Newer to the site but have read up on the treatment portion when I was about to move in to a house with an existing pool. That house fell through in inspection and I'm now in a different, currently pooless, one. I've gone through the process of evaluating several pool builders and signed a contract. I probably should have dug in to this section ahead of time in but didn't think about it since I was previously here for existing pool water treatment. Either way, I'm meeting with the pool builder tomorrow for layout and selection review. My excavation is tentatively scheduled for a couple weeks from now, so I figure I'll get what I'm currently working with posted. In general I'm working with a 15' by 30' rectangle pool with a 7' by 7' square spa at one corner. I'll get some more details and the equipment listed here shortly. In the meantime here are a couple images.

I was planning to use liquid chlorine and potentially add a SWG either at the build or in the future.

As far as the spa goes, I am glad you know what you are getting. Spas are the most oversold and underused items in most pool builds. This is simply because often the new pool owner has never used a gunite spa before buying one.. Kind of like buying your very first car before taking it for a test drive...
I suggest that you go with saltwater.. It is the easiest way to maintain a pool. I have three saltwater pools in the DFW area and I would not have the time to maintain them if I were using Liquid Chlorine.

I believe that Easytouch is the 'lite' version. You do not want that. Get the ET with the Intellichlor included. And I am sure Jim will recommend Screenlogic
I would also suggest getting the Dolphin robot from Marina Pool and Spa in Denver, Co. I am confident they sell it for far less than a pool builder.

I can appreciate that and definitely believe it, especially when somebody may be expecting something more like a standalone hot tub. I actually did all my initial evaluations without but went ahead and included it because of past experiences.

I saw some of the other controller versions, specifically some with and without the Intellichlor included. I think the EasyTouch is the ET since ET in all the model numbers online. The only other one I see is IntelliCenter and IntelliConnect on their website. I was also wondering if all these integrations result in manufacturer lock in or if the products from different manufacturers were interchangeable. I'll check out Marina, but when I initially got the deduct price on the robot it seemed competitive with what I could generally find online.
I think I misinterpreted your comment on the lite version. Are you saying this particular model number looks to be the lite version with out the transformer for the SWG. I believe that is true.

If you exchange the remote for ScreenLogic, you can control everything with your PC, tablet or phone.
As Marty says.. You need to make sure that your EasyTouch is not a "lite" version.. Anything with an "L" in the model number is a lite version and just like salad dressing, it just does not taste right. Get the actual Pentair P/N which will be about 8 digits long and we can tell you for sure. Lite versions have a set of severely limited functions..
You also might want to look at the new IntelliCenter which has replaced the EasyTouch and IntelliTouch systems.

The lite version has no load center, is limited to 4 schedules instead of 12, has 2 feature circuits instead of 10.. and it goes on...

I'll check on the actual model since it doesn't seem to align with the models on the website. They do have the remote listed as "phone" so I think that might already be ScreenLogic. Definitely checking in to this.

We find the upgrade saved us a lot because we didn't need the expensive wall control and we love the convenience of control from anywhere. We even use it to get the spa going while we're out at dinner and on the phone app to tweak spa temp while we're in it.

The soil injections were not really a factor in the decision to go with this pool builder and I kind of just look at any benefit they provide as an add. The high clay content of the soil here leads to a lot of expansion/contraction with moisture. These potassium ions and/or ammonium salts injections reportedly bind with the clay to prevent it from attracting water so readily. They are 10 feet deep injections on 3 foot grid.
Here's what the backyard currently looks like. The fence on the left can be moved back further to the 25' setback to get some additional backyard.

This controller version shows an integrated Intellichlor power supply. It looks like the SWG then attaches to the panel with a four wire connector. Would this be the route to go or would it be better to get one without and just integrate a SWG as generic equipment, assuming that the alternate? It seems the integrated unit locks you in to Pentair where the alternate would allow for a brand.
