She said she runs a chlorine level of 8 with 0 CYA. Wouldn't that be fairly harsh water? It's not a saltwater pool either.

If shes not using stabilizer then that would be terribly harsh and not to the commercial pool regulations in Cali...which i believe is 1.0.

Not really it is only about 3 times higher than chlorinated public water supply water.
