Phoenix, a
Has anyone else struggled with these cracking… I tighten them only far enough to where the leak stops.

Now I’ve got three of them in my pool box, all cracked And unusable. The most recent one failed overnight and dumped a foot of salt water into the yard… hoping neither the pump nor the plants end up suffering.

I don’t know what type of plastic it is, so I don’t know what bonding agent to try, but I’m done with the cells, and to be blatantly honest, done with the whole system. It’s been a nightmare since it was installed by a pool tech who suggested it would do better than our old one becuase it was designed for the desert… I’m thinking the sun or heat is saying otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

Any chance of a picture?
Not sure about that SWCG, but the only way to sustainably chlorinate here is with a SWCG.

You mentioned possible heat/sun related, how long has they been lasting before they crack?

If you use something to bond it together permanently after replacing it you will no longer be able to replace the cell alone without replacing the housing.
There’s alot recommendations for what to use on threaded connections here

Many TFP members in high uv locations have fashioned some sort of shade to protect their expensive equipment from the effects of the heat & sun.

Are these cracks at the water connections? CMP was/is aware of he issue and has replaced the "shell" for a couple of my customers. Plast-Aid will permanently bond to the shell and should seal the cracks.
