Cant hold chlorine

Well, planned on doing a overnight chlorine loss test last night but it’s been raining since about 2am.
90% chance of rain today also.
Do I still need to maintain SLAM levels during the rain or wait until it stops?

Rain does little to your pool water chemistry. Maintain the SLAM level FC. In fact, without UV, the chlorine will be focused only on the organics. Great time to SLAM.

Just tested the water and I was at 26 FC. Last night at 830 I was at 26 FC.
I’m confused on how the rain didn’t drop my FC some since it does Dilute the water?

with that being said, am I done slamming?
Water does seem a tad more clearer than before I started.
is this a new record, slam complete in 36 hours 😂😂😂

I would hold the SLAM level FC today and do another OCLT tonight.

Rain, unless it is feet in a day, will not dramatically effect your pool water chemistry. If you have overflow for many days, that can effect the chemistry some.

Ok. Just added more chlorine. Shouldn’t have any sun today so I’ll check it again at dusk.

Is 1 hour the preferred time to test water after adding chlorine to get a good baseline?
I know pool math app is only accurate under ideal conditions. I’m curios to know if what I am adding does coincide with pool math?

An hour is fine. With good circulation and a thorough brushing, 30 minutes should be enough.

So I’m about 20 gallons in on chlorine since Thursday night and I’m still losing chlorine during a overnight test.
I’ve seen folks do a slam in 4-5 days on here with green water.
Yet mine is/was crystal clear now and before I even started.

Just unscrewed the Jandy leds and flushed the conduit from the pump end. Looks like some dirt and debris was in pipe from the pool build.
dropped in about 4oz of chlorine in each conduit

Chlorine in your pool is consumed by two things........Either organics in your pool or UV from the sun. Since you eliminated the sun in your testing period (did 11 hours include any sunlight?) that 6 ppm FC loss is due to organics.

The ONLY answer is to replenish the chlorine and continue to SLAM

No sunlight. Took sample at 815 last night and at 715 this morning.

What kind of organics can live in a pool with a FC level of 28-35 for 7 days?
This is how clear the pool is now and honestly, it looks just a tad clearer from when I started last week.
