Can I split suction between raised spa and pool to run at lower RPM without spillover?

I have a Jandy aqualink RS system and a Jandy VSP. I have to run the VSP at 2600RPM to get the spillway to clear the coping below which means a 3.5hr turnover. I'm pretty sure the valves in "Pool Mod" are set to only pull water from the pool floor/filter basket, eg, no water is being removed from the spa except by spill. The only time the spa suction seems to be on is when it's in spa mode (no spill)

Is there a way to configure the Jandy aqualink valves to split the suction to allow the VSP to run at something really slow without the water going over the spill? Is this a bad idea? I was hoping to have a full turnover with the spill on, and then 1 more slower no spill.

Are pictures of my setup and app needed to answer this?

A few things to discuss...

Turnover does not matter. You run your pump for a reason. Read Turnover of Pool Water - Further Reading

If AUX3 is not being used, you can turn on dip switch 3 and enable SPILLOVER mode on your Aqualink. Then, you can schedule your spillover to run to refresh your spa water. Read Jandy Aqualink RS - Further Reading

Thanks for the reply. I think what I'm trying to achieve is just more filtering and to get some of the water from the spa mixed, wouldn't the returns going to the spa just push the water on top over the spill without much mixing in the bottom if the floor suction isn't on? The noise level at 2600 RPM is fine for just running it this speed, just trying to optimize the power usage to clean and water feature aspects

Here are some shots of the equipment. Also attached shots of what my aqualink looks like, it's in Pool mode for this shot. The blue handle valve is a manual restrictor valve to send more water back to the spa, I think he said that's so you can run slower and still get the spill to clear.

Your AUX3 is set to SPILLWAY.

I think what I'm trying to achieve is just more filtering and to get some of the water from the spa mixed, wouldn't the returns going to the spa just push the water on top over the spill without much mixing in the bottom if the floor suction isn't on?

Your spa will get adequate water mixing, and most of the water will be dumped over the spillway. The water will be refreshed with the chemical levels from your pool.

Does your spillway run when you are in POOL mode?

Do you have any schedules to run Spillway-AUX3?

When I'm in normal pool mode the spillway works fine. Mostly what I was asking is can I set the JVAs to pull water from the spa and balance the amount of water going back to the pool/spa in pool mode so that I can have the VSP run at something like 1000 rpm and not dribble water over the spillway. That way I can have the filter going normally (2600rpm) with water going over for a few hours and then have it just filter water for more hours to help clear any debris in the pool. Or is this just a bad idea and I should run the normal filter speed for longer?

I assigned aux3 the name spillway and just set the speed to something that is enough to get a nice waterfall. Can I set the JVAs for one of these aux modes to have a certain configuration like:
VSP: 1000
JVA Pool /Spa : 80/20
or can the valves only go 100% on/off

Will,

It is impossible to 'balance' the split of water between the pool and spa..

You will eventually either drain the spa, or over fill the spa..

Your best bet is to do what Allen recommends... Let the automation control the spillover, by using the Spillway function and schedule when it runs and at what speed.

Thanks,

Jim R.
