C-19 Vaccine-I got one

Casey, so sorry for what you (and your husband) are going through. I don’t know why ignorant people chose to make this into a political issue, it is and always has been a public health emergency. My wife still lives with the long term effects of having polio as a very young child. If only the vaccine had been developed a few years earlier……. I fear that many will face serious life long health effects. Some (like my wife’s) may not appear until years in the future.

While not commonly given, there is a blood test that can differentiate the antibodies from the vaccine and naturally acquired thru illness. It's mainly used in research settings from what I can tell.
Not really worth the effort unless I was trying to prove something. And I am not.

Anecdotally, some brands of home test kits based on antigen testing seem to be pretty good. I think once that's the standard for testing and not PCR we will see some actual mathematically accurate numbers finally. If it is like historical pandemics we should be getting to the end anyway soon, thankfully.

Yea, I'm not that worried either. But, I keep up with testing as we travel to Caribbean islands every six months or so and every one has different rules to enter. It's a sad state of affairs that my retirement hobby has become Covid testing.....

@Leebo sorry I brought this up. Not my intention to start a BS war.
No need to apologize…you need TFP’s support and not our opinions. We’re praying for you! You hang in there.

Just now seeing this - Sending prayers & big hugs @Casey 🙏
We are definitely all rooting for y’all.
Try to take care of yourself during this time. Hoping he recovers quickly with the medicine they have at their disposal. I know it’s heartbreaking to be on the outside unable to be with him. Are u able to FaceTime with him ? They’re supposed to facilitate that for you. Even if its just u talking to him & he can’t talk back.

They discharged him. Why? I dont know! I spoke to the nurse in the ER via phone n she said, we are sending him home. He needs to go back. I'm trying to get him to go to the ER right now but he's a stubborn old man n hates hospitals. I'm truly scared for him right now n the lingering effects this may have on him if he makes it through the initial phase of sickness n being positive. I am praying for him. I'm praying for strength to get through this. I'm supposed to get a booster today but he needs me more right now. I'm hoping I can get him into the ER before 11am. He's just outright refusing right now. He's got a pulse ox of 80-85 n the hospital sent him home with no oxygen. I'm dumbfounded!

+1. It helps you cut the line GREATLY if it’s a busy day when you get there. My mom called many times when we were too far away and the ambulance would have been much quicker. Right in the doors and in a ER room everytime. The times we were close enough to take her we sat and sat and sat in the waiting room. Sure, it would have been better to collapse in the waiting room and not at home, but still. Get them monitors on ASAP.

I got him to the ER. They have banned me from the waiting room. I'm now sitting in the truck just waiting. The nurse here asked me why they sent him home yesterday like that?! I said that's a good question!

You’re outside praying for him and he’s inside praying for the nurses that you don’t lose your cool over being locked out. 😁

It’s a win win as worrying about *you* worrying helps take his mind off what he’s going through.

Before you take him home again, ask to speak to the doctor who is releasing him, and ask what the criteria are for release. You should have gotten detailed care instructions, and oxygen, and maybe meds, as well as rationale for his release the last time. If you aren't comfortable going toe to toe with medical professionals ( it takes a few rounds, I know!) then get your very toughest "bad cop" friend or relative to come down and help ensure that your husband gets the care he needs.

Naw... I got this.

Wow. Definitely scary. The not knowing is the worst part. Our family had Covid back in August. Our son got it at school and brought it home. Miserable but we all got over it with no serious problems. My son got over it in 3 days. Pretty crazy, wife and I took a little over a week before back to mostly normal. The pool was a godsend with the aches and pains. I would just float around for hours to avoid gravity. Best of luck to everyone, even with the vaccine to world is changed. Hopefully not forever.
