Bumps and trowel marks in Pebble Sheen finish

We just had our pool refinished with Pebble Sheen and we’re unhappy with the way the finish came out. There’s bumps almost everywhere along the bottom and sides and they’re especially noticeable at night. Is this normal for a pebble sheen finish? I’m not sure how they would even fix this but I really want to complain about this to the installer because it looks awful to us. I’m not sure if I need to report it to Pebble Tec if the installer says they won’t fix this.

Welcome to TFP :)

Plaster is a hand applied finish and every single pool has its own look and feel.. This is your pools surface, just like every single persons face is different, every pool surface is different.. It will never be completely flat and perfect.. some crews are better than others at getting it flatter...

Night shots with the pool lights will show more detail like you are seeing.. You really should be more concerned with a quality product installed correctly.. How are you chlorinating and what are your levels for your new plaster? :)

During our reno, they specifically warned us we would see that kind of stuff because it is all hand done. We have been ok with it as we expected imperfections & we think it just adds to our pool's personality but for the most part it looks great

Hi there! Thank you for the response. I took some pictures during the day of some areas of concern. Is this typical to see in a pebble finish? It looks very bad when it’s overcast outside and when it’s sunny it’s not as bad. They’re long streaks and the company said they’re going to do a “hot wash” to help lesson the stains but our pebble is still curing so I’m curious if that will help it or if we should wait until after the 30 day curing.

Is this normal to expect in a Pebble Sheen finish? The company that installed keeps saying that it’s normal to have imperfections in a pebble finish but I feel like this looks extremely bad… I’m curious what the correct method would be to fix this issue.

Hi.
We had pebblesheen installed on May 22nd . Ours dies not look like that. We have no streaks. Comparing ours with yours I would say there is something wrong. See pics of ours. Pebblesheen Prism Blue.20210531_083905.jpg

Hi Amy, what part of California do you reside, and what company installed if you dont mind me asking? I've noticed newly installed pools come out better than Reno's. I'm assuming because the chiseling marks left behind are so ridged. Funny how my previous plaster pool was smooth and after a reno with pebblesheen it looks hideous, you would think the aggregate would hide it a little.
