Bleach prices 2013

You're welcome, im glad phelptwan posted the sale, i had called my local ace hardware before and they said they didn't carry liquid chlorine and it doesn't show on the website so i had written off ace as a place to keep an eye out for. This is my first year going with bleach and was worried id never find a good deal before summer was in full swing.

The sale ends today so everyone needs to get their order in if they want to take advantage.

Just a note...higher concentrations of chlorine have a shorter shelf life. Keeping it cool (and always out of the sun) will help extend the shelf life, but I don't personally keep it around for more than 1-2 months.

BJ's in Cary NC has Austin's Shock for $13.99 a case - compared to the local pool supply that sells exactly the same product for $22/case.

Not sure if the product is available in other BJ stores/states.

In local Walmart 2 week's ago .Pick'd up Great Value 121 oz.Value Pack 3 jug's.8.25% for $7.98..Went back by Friday morning.They had them mark'd dow to $6 a box.Clean'd the end cap off..They had 7 box's left..Wish they had more.

Restaurant Depot has KIK Top Job bleach, case of 6 - 128oz bottles for $5.99.

Bottle or box didn't list concentration, but I googled in the store on my phone and found this showing concentrations of 6-7%.

Bought a few cases to keep my freshly installed liquidator going.

But now I've just searched and found this MSDS showing 1-6.0%. Seeing as I bought so much, I really hope I got 6% bleach and not 3%. Anybody know for sure?

We've been buying the Clorox 8.25% from Sam's Club. $8.98 for 3x121oz bottles, so I guess that works out to $0.299/oz.

Top Job if 6%: $0.13/oz
Top Job if 3%: $0.26/oz

So I guess even it ends up being weaker, the price works out similarly, but I've hauled and am storing a bunch more water.

Sometimes these alternative bleach products and concentrations have more excess lye in them in which case they will cause the pH to rise and require you to add more acid to compensate.

I am finding this to be true. The WalMart Store Brand IMO is now my go-to because it does not seem to have this effect as some of the ones I have tested recently.

YMMV I am not an expert at all, please do your own research etc. etc.

in Maryland at my local ACE hardware they had 4/$10 1 gallon size 12% HTH over the memorial day weekend. Unfortunately my Wal-mart (and none of the next closest 5 walmarts) carry liquid chlorine other than the stuff in the laundry section.

This is a great post. I've been wondering how the price I paid at Leslie's compared. I paid $7.29 for 2 gallons of 10%.

(7.29/2)/(128*0.1)=$0.28/oz = a bit on the higher side

I'll check the local HD, Lowes, and Walmart the next time I'm out. Does anyone else in Vegas have a preferred location?

Hi, first post here. I completely bought into the BBB method. I have my Liquidator up and running and bags of bakeing soda and boxes of Borax in the shed. Been buying my liquid chlorine from Namco in 5 gallon jugs, 12.5%. One draw back is that there is a deposit of $6 for each jug, but you do get that back when you return it. Just bough two jugs at $13.99 each. That was after a 20% discount coupon that I receive via email as a Namco Rewards Club Member. Seems that I get a discount email about once a week.
Any way that works out to be $0.17 per oz if I've calculated correctly.

Also, just want to than you all for the great information on this site.

I made a chart of local prices and added in some that were mentioned here on TFP recently. Maybe an app (like gas buddy) would be good on the TFP to track world wide the cost of the chemicals we use. Thereby helping members see where lower prices might be available. :)
