My pump as what I believe is typical is getting louder with age. I always wanted a quieter situation but now am motivated to do something. What is the best sound proofing system out there for pumps?

The only one that will work directly with your Pro Logic is a Hayward. You want the largest in capacity (hp rating) so that it can be turned to lower RPM where there is very little sound. You could, likely, run one 24/7 at just enough RPM to get your heater to function, for far less than the cost of what you now run your pump for however many hours you do each day, even with your low electric rates. Your water will sparkle and the RPM can always be increased if need for cleaning. More info is need on your pool set up.
At high speed all VSP make more noise, either from the water movement itself or the cooling fan on the back of the motor, but usually nothing like the sound of an older single-speed pump. Mine's running right now, the original version of the W3SP3206VSP, the EcoStar, at low RPM, and I have to stand over it to even hear anything. When they first start, at priming speed, all VSPs can be heard.
