No kidding. Had a patient once, a young man with mother in tow. Asked him how much alcohol he drinks? His mother answers "He don't drink that stuff!" So I ask again in different wording "No beer? No whiskey?"... again mom answers for him "No way... he only drinks shine."
OMG.
I can't decide what part of that was worse- his mother not recognizing "shine" as ETOH? or his "shine" intake or his mother interrupting every question to answer for him??
