Best pebble finish for turquoise/teal blue water?

Hi sunngurrl! I am following this also. We chose NPT Artic Lagoon subway tiles 2x1" for our waterline however we are not anywhere near installing them. I too would love to see someone's pictures who has installed with white thin set and grey grout vs the grey thin set.
:albino:

I am looking for the same, I did a search for Arctic lagoon in this forum but all the pictures are now blocked by photobucket which isn’t too helpful.

Any pics of your pool with Arctic Lagoon you can share?

We don't have any raised walls so you can't see it in all its glory. I believe there were some really good pics from a cypress Texas build. I would say from a distance, the tiles blend with the aqua white but up close there is quite a contrast. Looking at it straight on in the sun, it looks turquoise, but look at it at an angle or in the shade and it is iridescent. It really is breathtakingIMG_6785.jpgIMG_6783.jpg

You rock! Thank you so much for taking the time to post a few pics, truly appreciate it! You are right, it is breathtaking! I think I am going with grey grout as well. Do you recall the color? If not, was it a light, medium or dark grey? Anything you would change?

I believe it was something like natural grey and my thinking is it varied hues depending on how much water they add but I'm not sure. Not anything I would change with the color necessarily but I would ensure that they don't mix a new batch of grout in the middle of a wall. We had one place where they did that and it really bothered me a lot before the pool had water. Now that it has water and the tile is mostly wet, you can't tell, but still. So we had varying darkness and I would say I prefer the grout on the darker side bc if you have lighter grout, your eye goes to the grout, but with it darker it goes to the tile. He is an up close before plaster where the change in color was so you can see two types of grey. Also a shot of the water line (this wall has the darker batch of grout) without plaster so you can see more of it in case you have a wall or raised spa.

@TXSlater, is that precast concrete for your coping? Or, is it poured-in place concrete? I'm curious your satisfaction with your coping, any issues, concerns, etc.

Interesting you ask, b/c I was going to post some questions about it soon. It is precast coping. I love the way it looked brand new (and in pool terms, it is still brand new), but it seems like there has been some discoloration in parts, probably due to the salt. It is along the busier side of the pool where there is more splashing/walking. I know my PB didn't seal it and I don't think it came sealed. Maybe we should do that this winter before it gets worse, but then that makes me think it will seal in the discoloration. My guess is although we got it in a light grey color that pretty much matches natural concrete, it is actually stained (throughout mix, not just on top) and maybe some of the salt is reacting with the stain. I know the company that sells it, so I'll probably call them and ask them specifics about the product and any advice.

So if you are considering precast, you may want to ask if it is dyed and if so, what can happen to it over time. I knew it wouldn't stay looking new forever, but it has only been one season.

NPT no longer has arctic lagoon tile, I was so mad, it's what i wanted too... at least I couldn't order it in PA. I ended up ordering something like it by classic tile .. "CT GLV 6 marine" and it's gorgeous, it's not in the pool yet, or i'd post a picture. It was very expensive, so I better love it!
Not sure what color grout to do with it.
I also wanted aqua water color, funny that I ended up going with grey though (luna quartz Bermuda), just because i love the way grey looks on the steps actually. I'll be curious to see if it still looks aqua ish for us just because our plain white plaster was VERY aqua, I loved it, but i hated ever piece of dirt it showed (again why i went with grey). Any one add moon dust to the luna quartz finish, i think i want that too! I'm going to have a very sparkly pool :)

What did you end up choosing? I think I want a more teal look as well but I don't want the roughness of Pebble Tec so leaning towards pebblesheen or equivalent in another brand. This will all depend on what contractor I go with and what they work with. Or may end up with a quartz finish.
I'm going with more of a natural look, semi-lagoon with rocks etc. I don't want the bright bright light blue something more serene. My understanding is that the gray finishes will give a look towards that?

We did Tropics Blue Touch Of Glass. I was afraid Midnight Blue would be too dark and I dont like the black plaster in the shallow end, Tropics was my solution to get blue without a black bottom. It worked out pretty well. We are happy with the color. There are pictures in sun and shade.

Hi, we're looking at either Pebble Sheen or Stonescapes Mini Pebbles, depending on the PB we go with. We really want a true turquoise blue water color, verging on teal blue. The online wisdom is that you must go with a tan or sand colored finish to achieve this effect, but the PBs we've talked to say this finish results in a very green looking pool, with an algae-like appearance (we definitely don't want that!), at least under the intense sun of Arizona. White pools seem too washed out and pale for our taste. Stonescapes Tropics Blue appears too dark in the photos we've seen. Pebble Sheen Aqua Blue may not be turquoise enough, as people have said it's similar to Pebble Fina Bella Blue, which we've seen in person and is WAY too blue. Can anyone recommend finishes that will give the effect of the Caribbean Sea? A bright, intense turquoise blue that goes teal in the shade? Thanks!
We just finished our pool, and my inspiration was the water color in Mykono, Greece. We chose Mini Sand pebble with Puerto Rican Glass Blend added to it. I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out, it’s exactly what I wanted. Please excuse the backyard, the back stamped concrete is going in next week.
