Is there any reason to backwash a DE filter if the pressure has not risen by 5-10 psi? Is it okay to go several months between backwashes if the filter pressure is not rising.

I have two rent house pools that have DE filters. I never backwash them. I just open and clean them every 6 months.
I can do that because I have a VS pump that runs at a pretty slow RPM.
The point is... As long as the pressure does not increase where it effects the flow of water back to the pool, I see no reason you need to backwash.

I like to backwash after pollen season, no need to keep decaying organics in the pool.
