Another Episode of “Easytouch Wired Wrong”!!!!

Calling all easytouch gurus. Planning to install IC40 and power center that I ordered off of Polytec Pools.

Taking a look at my easytouch wiring, it looks like my PBS electrician decided to do his own thing and the panel is nowhere close to what the images on the panel door call for. Obviously first relay should be pump relay and then left to right Aux 1-7. However, from what I can tell, the first two relays are for pool light and spa light and what should be Aux 5-6 seem to be wired as pump relays.

Taking how the panel is currently wired into consideration, what is the proper way for me to wire the power center, so that the swcg only turns on when pump is on?

Why two relays for pump? You only show one pump in your signature. And the pump should not be wired through the relay. It should be directly wired to its breaker. The same breaker (or a separate one) can then feed the pump relay so you can wire the SWCG to the LOAD side.

I do only have one pump. My technical knowledge is not all there!!! The pump may be wired directly to breaker, but I was not certain. Maybe the other relay is running to heater and other equipment (booster, etc.)?

Nah, your electrician did not do anything wrong. Your panel looks nice and clean.

The use of the relays on the door sticker are a suggestion. It would have been nice if your electrician had written on the door label how he actually connected them. But what he did made sense.

The upper two relays are cramped in the corner to get many wires up to them. He used relays 6 & 7 for the majority of the wiring which have the best access. Given the way your equipment was wired it makes sense.

Let's understand your CBs:

• From the bottom you have a 120V CB that powers two lights each on individual relays - AUX3 and AUX4 - from the LOAD side of the GFCI receptable.
• Then the middle 240V GFCI CB powers two relays for your AUX1 and AUX2.
  • AUX1 has the EasyTouch power feed from the line side screws
  • Cleaner is connected to AUX1 relay
  • Blower is connected to AUX2 relay
• You then have a 240V GFCI CB at top that directly powers the IntelliFlo VS pump and heater.

At the bottom of your panel you have four wire feeds in marked H. B, F, and C. You need to figure out what devices each of those feeds go to and where the wires connect in your panel. All of that wiring is not visible to see where things go.

Once you understand where the H, B, F and C wires go to which CBs or relays we can discuss what changes need to be made.

So H is heater and F is filter pump. Those two are wire nutted together at bottom of panel and then wired into to the top CB.

B is the blower, which is run to Aux 7 and C is the cleaner pump and is wired to Aux 6.

OK, I now see that the third relay on the top is plugged into J8 and is your FILTER/PUMP relay. Right now it is not used and has no power to it.

You need to rewire the top CB so that it runs through the FILTER/PUMP relay so it can power the pump and heater on the LINE side and SWG on the LOAD side.

You need two pieces of 12 gauge THHN/THWN wire to run from the top CB to the LINE side screws on the relay. Then connect the wires that were connected to the CB to the other side of the LINE screws.

You need to open up a knockout on the bottom and run a liquid tight conduit from the IntelliChlor Power Center to the EasyTouch with the power wires. Make sure the Power Center is wired for 240 volts. Connect the hot wires to the LOAD side screws of your FILTER/PUMP relay and the ground wire to the ground bus bar.

Turn off the CB from your main house panel to the EasyTouch panel before doing any high voltage wiring.
