Algae and FC question?

Pool is still looking good, I just received my 50ppm standard and now I’m concerned my CYA may be a lot higher then I thought.
I was under the impression the test was over when the dot just barely disappears? I mixed the solution poured to 50 ppm line and can’t under any conditions make that dot come even close to disappearing. I’ve tried for 20-30minutes.
What’s the consensus when the test is over?

Use the standard solution in place of your pool water. It contains 50ppm CYA.

So mix standard solution, 50/50 with CYA Reagent, mix/shake and wait 30 seconds, then use that mixture to fill the tube.

The dot should be gone. At the same time, I don't stare so hard that I force myself to see it either. Squirt some liquid in the viewing tube, glance away & back, and add more fluid if needed. A simple look with the tube at waist level should suffice. It's a subjective test with some testing variance built-in, but the dot should be gone.

CYA Testing:
Proper lighting is critical for the CYA test, so you want to test for CYA outside on a bright sunny day. Use the mixing bottle to gently mix the required amounts of pool water and R-0013 reagent, let sit for 30 seconds, then gently mix again. Recommend standing outside with your back to the sun and the view tube in the shade of your body at waist level. Then, begin squirting the mixed solution into the skinny tube. Watch the black dot until it completely disappears. Once it disappears, record the CYA reading. To help the eyes and prevent staring at the dot, some people find it better to pour & view in stages. Pour some solution into the viewing tube, look away, then look back again for the dot. Repeat as necessary until you feel the dot is gone. After the first CYA test, you can pour the mixed solution from the skinny view tube back to the mixing bottle, gently shake, and do the same test a second, third, or fourth time to instill consistency in your technique, become more comfortable with the testing, and validate your own CYA reading. Finally, if you still doubt your own reading, have a friend do the test with you and compare results.

That’s exactly what I did, just confused now the line is always very visible no matter what I try with the 50 ppm standard.
I’ll try again

The dot is visible, that is correct. The instructions are wrong. They are designed for the masses that cannot interpret "add until there is only a faint outline of the dot".

Yes, I’ve tried it a bunch of different ways. Definitely frustrating since I’m pretty sure I overshot my CYA with my testing procedures.
