Ahh-Some in Washing Machine

My top load washer is being a royal pain. Two Ahhsome treatments, and STILL getting this. Tried vinegar, citric acid, bleach, now this. NOTHING is working. Anyone have any more ideas?
When I researched cleaning the pipes in my tub a lot of folks said dishwasher pods and it seemed to break the junk loose. Don't think it breaks the biofilm stuff down or sanitizes anything but I put 6 in my tub and after 30 minutes running the jets stuff started coming out.

It's an LG WT1501CW
I think I previously looked into a filter or trap to fix, but I didn't find much. Might have to pull the drum. That sounds like a good time.🤦

Yeah. I bet if you pull the drum you will find something funky in there.

Not seeing mention of a lint trap or screen in the manual. I do see a lot of posts saying that newer HE washers don't have them and instead just eject any lint with the water.

Might need to pull the drum to clear it out like Matt said :(

Just ran Ahhsome through the dishwasher -

It sparkles like new and has NO ODOR AT ALL. I stuck my entire upper torso into the machine to breath in the vapors … nada. The wife walked by just as I had my head in the machine and she just walked away shaking her head. I think I heard her mutter “What an idiot…” or maybe it was “way to go!” … Im going to go with the latter …

Matt that interior looks Ahh-some!!! I can1t wait to use Ahh-some on our washer and dishwasher. I am looking to be totally wowed!

One thing to note is that my kitchen has softened water plumbed to it. So the washer sees zero mineral hardness. Before we had the softener installed, I had to run LemiShine (citric acid) through the machine monthly to get rid of the white chalky deposits.

We have great well water, no hardness just small rock grit that would cause me to clean washer cold water screen every 3 months and it was a pain. Once I put a whole house 5 micron filter no more issue.

I use the LemiShine dishwasher detergent. It works great and I am not worried about what it is doing to my septic system!

Run the machine cleaner every so often, mostly because it comes with the purchase of the detergent pods.

It didn’t get a lot of junk out of my top loading washing machine ( least that I could see ) but I put the softener dispenser in the water and let is also soak and it looks brand new. I was never able to get it clean before.
We haven’t used the dispenser for years but always looked nasty

Unless you have a have a way to pull the drain lines and collect all the waste water from the machine, it’s hard to see the effects. My clothes washer has a clear glass top so I can see the clean cycle running. There’s a bit of foam on top similar to have the Ahhsome looks in a hot tub and the water is usually milky white. Because my machine is clean, the water doesn’t look bad but I can usually wipe down the inside of the basket with a paper towel and I’ll get little grey flecks that smear when rubbed.

With the dishwasher I have a double sink with a disposal grinder on one side. The washing machine discharges into the disposal. I can see the discharge water and it too is milky white. If I wipe out the inside of the machine afterwards, especially around the rubber door seal, I’ll find little bits of gunk here and there.

Both machines are regularly cleaned so I usually go by smell. The dishwasher is always the one that develops the funky food smell because dishes are piled into it all day long and then it’s run at night. So there’s always a certain amount of “food waste” sitting in a dark, warm, moist environment all day. Perfect breeding grounds for funky aromas.

The dishwasher water did have a milky white look when I opened it.
It’s stainless steel inside and got its old shine back.

Amazon sells a one use hot tub cleaning packet for around $10. Was enough for dishwasher and washing machine.

I used it and didn’t notice much but as mentioned I’m not pulling it apart either.

I ran one of the standard cleaner packs through my washer and one of the wax-seal cleaner things through the dishwasher. So I’m pretty sure they’re clean :)

Thanks for the info on front loaders and gaskets.

I ran 1/2t dissolved in water in the machine last night. Have the day off, so this morning I opened and started to wipe it down. Then I started wiping the front gasket, and found lots of nasty stuff. Kept wiping, and finding more hiding places and more nasty stuff. We've had this machine for many many years, and never cleaned that gasket. While I was at it, also cleaned out the soap dispenser. It really needed it too.

Running another load of ahhsome now in machine, then will rinse and see how it is. HAS to be better than before. I probably still need to clean the gasket a little more, hard doing it blind but so much black junk came out.

When I had a front loader I got into the habit of wiping the inside of those thick rubber gaskets down with a sock before each load (one of the socks that was going to be washed). Seemed to help.
