A Houston Pool Build Inside the Loop

Marla, I'm sorry they didn't follow your instructions. But, I have to say, I agree with Suz! I think it looks beautiful!
I do understand the shock and disappointment of things not being done as you envision.

It will probably feel like FOREVER until plaster day!!

Denise, we actually like the way they did the tiles. But, I did want the PM to know that it wasn't what was supposed to have been done. In this case it worked out since we like it and will accept it as is. Plaster day? It already feels like forever!! Hopefully we will find out tomorrow which day it'll be!

You were very right to tell him. He certainly needs to know when instructions aren't followed.

I'm glad it turned out well though and you aren't delayed by needing it to be redone.

I I pray the next 2 days go fast for you (but slow for me- I'm not ready to go back to work yet!)

Marla,

Glad it worked out and I totally empathize. Just because it happened to work out doesn't mean its OK. Not just your builder but all builders need to not make assumptions on design decisions.

This reminds me that I need to do a mental check-in with ours to remind them as we move forward to not turn the masons loose on the finish material work without talking to us. We want to have input on as much as possible. The reality is we'll probably defer anyway to what the masons recommend since they are the professionals, but we at least will avoid surprises (hopefully).

plat.

Plat, if I had been home, instead of at work, it would have been caught. But, it DID work out well so that's even better. I can say, though, these tile guys do excellent work.

And as Kim would say, it just adds more bling to the pool!

Marla well played! They look awesome like they are but telling them about not following directions was needed.

Nothing wrong with BLING!

You are SO close! I have some links for you so get your printer warmed up LOL

Pssttt...plaster tomorrow around noon.... ::sigh:: Yes, Kim I will try to be here to check the bags and such. I was really hoping they'd be here first thing in the morning since I don't go in until 9:30. I could insist on a morning plaster but that I'm sure would just push it back a few days, which I don't want. I only work about 5 min away, so I have every intention of being here at least for a bit. But working at a school, it can be difficult to get away. So the plan is plaster Wednesday, acid wash Thursday and fill. Start up on Friday.

Oh and one last thing....

Aubrey Anne was born today at 11:06 am. She weighed in at a whopping 6 lb 11 oz. All are doing well, although she is in NICU because her breathing rate was too high due to some fluid in her lungs. Mom, Dad and baby will probably go home Thursday. Seems strange to be a grandma.

First and most important- Congratulations on the grandbaby!!! Love the name! So glad to hear all are doing well!
Being a grandparent is so fun! It still seems strange to me (surreal) that I have 5. They all pooped out over the last 5 years. But, just like my children, I can't imagine life without them. When will you get to see her??? When do WE get to see her? ;)

Yay for plaster tomorrow!!! I'll be watching for pictures!!!

The baby is here! The baby is here! I wanna see!

It is TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you are only 5 mins away............I am 25 miles away when I am at work. If they know what is good for them they will have the correct plaster on the truck LOL.

Marla what a week you are having! A GRANDbaby and a plastered pool! WOW!

Thanks all! We went and saw Aubrey last night. She a sweetie all right. Denise, did you say you work the NICU? If so that sure takes a certain person to deal with all those small and sick babies!

Yeah for plaster! Wish it coulda been here this morning but it is what it is. I think I'll have the PM text me when MMG arrives so I can pop on over. Of course I'll take pics and post as soon as I can.

Why did I think your g-baby was in San Diego??? I'm so happy that she is close to you! It would tear my heart out if my babies were that far away :(

I do not work in NICU. I enjoyed my clinical rotation there but I don't think I can emotionally handle the bad outcomes. I work in the adult medical ICU (MICU). We get very sick patients, and a wide variety of "interesting" cases. We have ALOT of bad outcomes, but it's much easier for my heart to handle and be able to sleep at night.

I'm eagerly awaiting pictures of BOTH of your babies!!!

Congratulations on the grandbaby! :)

It is plaster day! Weather seems ok, 20% chance of scattered showers, so hopefully it will be good weather for you.

Despite not being what you wanted, I think the tile on the steps looks nice and that might be the same 1" tile we chose. What is yours called? We have the option for diamond shape (4 tiles), 1 tile strip or 2 tile strip like yours on the steps and sun shelf trim.

Fire, that number you posted is our waterline tile. The one I posted is our step markers.

I've ordered my hair nets for the skimmers and my Off lanterns (I hope I got the right kind, Kim!). Ready to tackle this baby!...I think.
