2018: Fiberglass install uxbridge ointario

I was not even close to the house. miles away. we had some wind gusts that kinda got the pool moving a bit.

Old guy with cigar is my Dad. I am the 300 pounder guiding the pool, haha

No video of pool setting down. My dad told my nephew to help steady the pool so he stopped shooting. lol

Ya. should have had a tripod.

YES!!!! Well worth that shipping charge for the peace of mind!!!

I see it and understand how it works! THANKS! So how do you turn the pump on and off? How do you know if you NEED to turn it on?

when the pool is full of water there is no need to pump out ground water because there will be more water in the pool than the water it is displacing. If I ever need to empty the pool for whatever reason, a repair for example I can drop a pump down and pump it out.

I could also hang a sump pump part way down the tube that will kick on when the water reaches it.

My property is high and dry to begin with. So this may have been a useless step. But it's there just in case.

Got ya! So you will have a pretty lid on it (I have a couple in mind for you if you are interested) so it will be there if needed! Good job! I love when someone plans ahead for what if! Makes life so much easier in the end.

Nope, no making here............I help you spend your money on "pretties" for your pool and area which = making my mark on your pool and area.

I would not leave it open though. What if a critter gets in there? ewwwwwwwww stinky!

Kim:kim:

The laugh would be on you as I am the one everyone calls to come save the critters or more like save them from the critter! "Hey Kim there is a snake on my backporch." "Hey Kim there is a racoon in my pantry." Hey Kim there is a bat inside the house." "Hey Kim my horse is in your pond." My answer.............on my way LOL well except for the horse. I let him stay for a while then ride him back home. He comes often LOL

It would change if it were stinky, dead one though-EWWWWWWWWWWWWW Shipment refused-return to sender!!!

First major issue. The pool after it was 2/3 backfilled and filled with water is now not level. Deep end is 1.5" lower than shallow end. Gonna get the crane back this week, pull out, remove backfill and relevel, compact. It will add cost and a ton of work to the job but I would never be happy with it the way it is.

Tough one and good decision. Good DIY happens when the DIYer can see it's not right and re-does it until it is. And good DIY is almost always better than trade norms. Sorry to hear but also good to hear. Wishing you a quick and effective outcome.

Don't know. First thing I did was take my rotary laser down to the basement last night and make sure it was properly calibrated and it was bang on.

When you fill the pool up at first due to the fact that it has a gradual slope, you get thousands of pounds in the deep end and nothing in the shallow end. I don't know if this is what caused it. Or if some fill was displaced by the weight. Or if frost in the hole melted and cause it to settle. Anything will be pure speculation. I am not stressed. I know what I have to do. I'm guessing about $1500 - $2000 added in cost for crane and machine rental. There is 15 tons of backfill material that I am not gonna shovel out by hand.

I have read sooooo many posts on the levelness of fiberglass pools. They are almost impossible to get perfectly level but I need it much closer than what it is.
It will work out.

Wondering if the HPB slipped out the sides when weight was added? Assuming you didn’t tamp it since it is supposed to be self compacting.

Or is it your sub soil given you found the builders used construction debris as fill.

I’ll be doing a FG pool whenever the frost is out and soil dried out enough for machines to move around.

Like yourself, I game plan things to death. My current plan was to use lime w/ screens for the base since you can tamp it solid and still be able to add or take away if needed. Even debated doing a concrete pad.

I was looking at using a spider crane to place the pool so I’m not on the clock with large crane on road and operator.

Haha. I considered a concrete pad.

I dug extra deep to remove debris. All that was left was compacted granular A.
I really dont know what the reason was. My pool is somewhat peanut shapped and it is one side of the peanut on the shallow end that is the problem. The other side of the shallow end is within reasonable level.
I have a retaining wall to build. 34 blocks @ 2400 pounds. I am thinking, get crane here and have pool removed and placed on road. Then have the retaining wall blocks installed by crane while I remove backfill and regrade. Then have pool set. if we can do that in 4 hours it is a $900 crane charge.

Problem is, ground is too hard to finish my trench for retaining wall.
