I have been slamming my pool for almost 2 weeks now, algae appears to be dissipating. Once I have gotten completely rid of it can I flock it to make the water clear again? Also the instructions on the flock say only to use if I have a way to vacuum to waste. I only have a robotic vacuum ( seaauto seal).. will this work? Or would it be a complete disaster to try? Thanks in advance

How often are you checking and replacing FC?
How often are you cleaning/backwashing the filter?
Have you passed an OCLT yet?
During this slam process I am changing my filter cartridge about every 2-3 days. I am checking my chlorine levels about 3 times a day and seems that I only need to add dichlor about every 2-3 days also to keep it up.. not sure how to really backwash my filter??? And I dnt know what oclt is either.

There is no equipment in your signature, so I used clean/backwash to be encompassing of any filter you had.

I think you should increase the frequency of checking and replacing FC. In the heat of summer, 2-3x per day = long slam which you are experiencing. If you can increase frequency to every 2-3 hours, will go faster.

On the filter, clean the cartridges, note clean pressure. When pressure rises 25%, clean them again...this will help clear the pool faster.

So are you saying instead of adding a bag of dichlor every 2-3 days that I should add a bag every 2-3 hours?? I'm confused.. wouldn't that make the chlorine level off the charts? I have been keeping the chlorine level at a steady 15 during the slam

How many gallons in your pool?

What type of pool do you have?

What test kit are you using?

The SLAM Process is best done using liquid chlorine.

For us to help, you need to have your own test kit. We don't rely on strips or pool stores, they are notoriously wrong. If we rely on them, we could do more harm than good. I know you are in a tough spot monitarily, but the kit will actually save you money, because you will only add what you need based on your testing, not a bunch of pool store potions.

These are the kits we recommend. Link-->Test Kits Compared

If you are going to order a test kit, then we recommend using liquid chlorine, not dichlor. Dichlor adds CYA. If this is what you have been using, your CYA may be very high.

We need to have results from your test kit to give you accurate advice.

Tell us the volume of your pool in gallons, or dimensions of the pool, and we can tell you how much liquid chlorine to add until your kit arrives.

You can also download pool math, and it will calculate 3ppm of liquid chlorine for your pool if you configure your pool. Link-->PoolMath

10,000 gallons Coleman above ground pool.. sadly using test strips.. I checked out the recommended test kits, they are out of stock. I had terrible luck in previous years with liquid chlorine. My cya level seems to stay where it should using the dichlor.

TFT test kits are never out of stock - Test Kits

The SLAM Process is not about your CYA level.

You are free lancing and not following TFP methods. Pool chemistry is not about luck. It is about following the correct procedures.

Both of the TFTestkits.net kits are available and in stock...

Awesome thank you, they were out of stock last week when I checked. I have 1 more questions maybe you could help with... I fill my pool with well water and my hardness level has always been over 1000 from the start.. I bought some stain and scale remover.. when would be a safe time to add this product? Or should I add it at all?

So despite dichlor being half chlorine and half CYA, your test strips showed zero movement in the CYA level after adding a bunch?

I don't think you're going to like what you see when you test it with a reliable kit...
Sometimes I have to add cya to even get it show, after a hot sunny day it drops back down.. ??? But my pool is getting clearer by the day
