    Solar Sun Shock

Save your money. That $130 could buy 43 gallons of 12.5% bleach at $3/gallon, and no copper. Better yet, put it towards a SWG.

Intex or Summer Waves hose to PVC (Solar heater)

To me it looks like the zip ties are holding the PVC manifold to the pool's metal leg. Good Job on the plumbing!

    A slight "shock"

Agreed, the bonding loop is independent of any electrical grounding, and should not be directly connected.

Tingle When Getting Out of Pool?!

Is the pool shower & heater within 5 feet of the pool? If the water heater ground is connected to the bonding grid, it could be introducing stray voltage. The bonding grid should never be connected to the electrical grounding loop. If the pool shower structure is greater than 5 feet away from...

    Making your skimmer work better...

I have the standard sized Hayward skimmer. There is a link in my signature that shows the initial install. I find that with the Skim-It, I get 90% of debris before it sinks. Also, I try to aim my return more downward than sideways. I do this to help stir up the bottom, and to slow the...

    Making your skimmer work better...

I use a “skim-it”. Works great to increase the skimmer’s ‘reach’ into the pool. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003BDMPLK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1527505465&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=skim+it&dpPl=1&dpID=517G%2BiPYovL&ref=plSrch

Possible to add gas heater to Intex with 1600gph Krystal Clear pump?

How long is the total length of hose coil? Will it be below water level? You should be ok, just watch the flow coming back into the pool, and your filter pressure.

Possible to add gas heater to Intex with 1600gph Krystal Clear pump?

According to Intex, your SF15110 has a system flow rate of 1500GPH. My experience with Intex pumps is that their system rated flow is a bit 'optimistic'. http://www.intexcorp.com/support/56677eg.html Seeing that you are already very close to the minimum rated flow of the heater, I wouldn't...

Going to try "solar" heating this year... The bypass loop is to help regulate the flow rate through the solar. Yes, that pic is from last spring opening, and the system is still drained. During normal operation the ball valve on the return is always open, and the three way valve is...

Going to try "solar" heating this year...

Yes I have a check valve on the return, along with a bypass loop. The solar should be before the SWG, or what I should say is the SWG should be last in the system.

Going to try "solar" heating this year...

Going to try "solar" heating this year... A real important part of efficient solar heating is a solar controller. It uses temperature probes to automatically turn the system on and off, depending on amount of sun, ambient temp & pool water temp. It will even run at night to cool the...

Going to try "solar" heating this year...

In general, an efficient solar system will move a lot of water that is only a few degrees above the pool temp. The smaller diameter of the black hose you mention will limit the amount of heated water that will return to the pool. Sure the water returning may be hotter, but there will be much...

How long does it take you to clean your pool?

Unless there is a constant supply of ‘dirt’ going into the pool, I would also suspect algae here. Half of my pool sits under two large trees, and I only run my suction side cleaner once every week to 10 days. I also brush the bottom every time I get in (or weekly when too cold to swim), and...

How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

I have an older Ultra Frame, it does not have the plastic bushings in the frame. If I was not comfortable with the continuity of a particular frame joint, I drove a Stainless Steel self tapping screw through it. Once everything was connected, I attached one side of my meter to the bonding loop...

How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

When I bonded my pool, I used a ‘Waterbug’ in the skimmer, as well as connecting six equally spaced legs to the bonding loop buried around the pool (I confirmed continuity throughout the frame, adding a few SS screws to connect less reliable friction connections). That loop is connected to the...

And never mix solid chlorine types (trichlor/dichlor with cal-hypo) or you could have a chemical reaction leading to an explosion. Inline feeders should only be used with one type of chlorine. How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

+100 I just wanted to repeat Marty's post above. Grounding & bonding are not the same. The heater needs to be connected into the bonding system of the pool & equipment. This is for your safety. It's good to hear that the unit is rated for outdoor use.

How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

Yeah, it’s listed as 1000 gallons max, and it’s on a pool almost 3X that. It is also not rated for outdoor use. I hope the OP has a plan to shield the unit from the weather.

How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

The specs say it is “37.5K BTU equivalent”, your 2800 gal pool needs about 25K BTU to raise the temp 1 degree in one hour so if the unit is truly 37.5K BTU, it should take about 40-45 min to raise temp by 1 degree at 100% efficiency. I would suspect that due to its small size (& small heat...

How to Heat an Intex (Anyone Doing It?)

That 240V 50A spa heater is not rated for outdoor use. It will need to be indoors, or in a ventilated weather proof enclosure. It is also listed as 1000 gallons max. pool size, your pool is almost 3X that size. I think it will be very expensive to run.

Rust on new pool ladder...any solutions?

Then I guess the best approach here is to replace the ladder with a quality stainless steel one. Bare uncoated steel will rust in water regardless of chemistry or bonding. A poly or plastic ladder would not rust, nor satisfy water bond requirements as you stated.
