    Quick! Before my wife notices

That looks like artillery fungus spores. Could be coming off the plant.

    Good day, from South Florida.

We had an AquaCool heat pump that was also a chiller (in Orlando). However, we never had to use the chiller part. Water never got above 90F. We had a screen enclosure, so that probably helped a lot. I have not seen a product with what you are asking to do. Most of the chiller heat pumps...

Equipment freeze protection (ice fishing tent)

Good advice. In my case, my pump runs 24/7/365, so I don’t have to worry about that.

Equipment freeze protection (ice fishing tent)

So I had been covering my pipes and equipment with blankets and a tarp with a heater underneath (very small, only max about 200W) during the cold snaps we had. This worked well, but it was tough to get to the equipment if I need to access valves or to access my drain spigot for draining due to...

Off-Center Bulb in Brand New Amerlite - this isn't normal, is it?

It would drive me nuts that is off center, so you should return. Sometimes, the sockets are skewed as well as the bulb. This happens in regular fixtures as well. I am not sure you will see the skewiness (super technical term) when the fixture is underwater. Test the light prior to...

    Locating the lights

I agree with pjt. I would put at least 2 on the wall closest to the patio facing away and one in the Jacuzzi (facing away).

    Pool Timer help Please

Turn off the breaker to the timer/pump. Test to ensure power is dead. Then yes, connect 2/4 to 1/3 (leave the wires there, those are the power (line) feeds).

    Starting the automation process

This is good information. Thank you. Looking like the availity is limited. I may just order the IC60KIT to start in order to get sanitation right. Replace pump after that. Then I will look at a system after that when hopefully they are more available.

    Starting the automation process

I plan on replacing the pump and filter and adding in a salt cell on a pool on a home we are buying. Old pump is single speed. I prefer a Pentair VS pump and the Intellichlor. I would like to automate and have remote control of the system. My dilemma is I am trying to figure out which...

no-see-ums-screen-effect-on-water-temp part 2 in FLORIDA mainly but other areas input are welcome also.

I have a screen and my temp has been 88-89 for the past week (no heater on). Looking at some other temps of the other members in Florida, it looks like the screen drops the temp a couple of degrees.

Electrical bonding, grounding and oh my

No. You do not drive a new ground rod. You need to “bond” the equipment, not “ground“ it with a new ground rod. The grounding will take place at the equipment ground to the electric panel. Please read: Bonding vs Grounding - Trouble Free Pool

    Rust spots?

You will need to determine what kind of stains they are. Read this here: Pool School - Metals in the Water and Metal Stains

    Rust spots?

Do you have a screen enclosure? Do you use a metal brush to clean pool? Are there any sources of metal around pool? Are you on a well for water? The way I get rid of them is to put on a diving mask and grab a vitamin C tablet and rub the spot.

    New pool light remote

Can you go to the manual switch, then take a picture and post it here please? Need to see who the manufacture is. It may be a Leviton, Chamberlain, X10, etc. If so, yes, you can get a replacement remote.

Could this also be achieved by installing a tee with a valve off of it?

Emergency shut-off switch required or is it optional?

Thanks! No where around here is using 2020. We are lucky to find a jurisdiction using 2017. I’m actually on a current project where the plans called for 2008 NEC code to be used!

Emergency shut-off switch required or is it optional?

Allen, 680.41 would not apply, correct? This does not apply to one-family dwellings. Is this the 2020 NEC? The 2017 NEC still only has this spas and hot tubs. JMK396, Basically, as Allen showed, 680.13 discusses the maintenance disconnecting means. You need a maintenance disconnect for each...

Pool heater on, but not heating

Another thought is that it just is taking a long time to heat up. How long does it normally take to heat up? If the water is 60, then you may not feel hot water coming out of the jets in the beginning. I still think it is a flow diverter issue. Should be easy to pull out and verify the...

Pool heater on, but not heating

I am sorry. I reread your original post and see you have the "b0" code. This means the control module is in bypass operation. Do you have a remote thermostat? If so, the remote thermostat may be faulty. If not, change the setting by using the MODE key to put the heater into STANDBY. Press...

Pool heater on, but not heating

That heater has a built-in bypass. It sounds like the bypass is stuck open and not allowing enough water through the heater to heat it up. You should not have to run your pump at full speed for the heater to work. If that is how your pool guy has it set up, it may have been an indication of...

Pool heater on, but not heating

Edited post after seeing pics. Is the water pipe coming out of the heater warm? Is the flow rate set per the heater manufacturer recommendation? I cannot tell if there is a bypass around heater. It may be internal to the heater. Do you have the heater model number? There may be just enough...

Is there water going through the heater? I know there should be a flow switch, but it may be faulty.

    Electrical question...

Also, is that EMT in the ground? You may be digging quite a bit to find a “solid” section. While technically EMT is allowed underground, I wouldn’t do it. What happens is, ”if” the EMT was made with good corrosion protection coating, what typically happens is that once the EMT is cut, the...

    Electrical question...

The trick is going to be where the splice is. You mentioned a weather-proof box. Where is that going to be? Basically, the cord from the light in the pool to the first junction box should be a continuous cord with no splices. That cord will run to the first junction box that is required to...

    Best pump speed when heating?

The short answer is: no, increasing the flow rate does not heat up the pool faster. The heat transfer is effected by the difference in temperature of the 2 systems (heater and water). Your heater is rated at 300k BTU per hour. That means you will only get that amount of heating. If you...

    Pool lights

When you say it does not work, does that mean the bulb burned out again? Or did a GFCI possibly trip and cause no power to light? For replacing the light with LED, in theory it should not be that difficult if you can find a direct replacement. If the wiring was done correctly on your existing...
