    New pool owner!

NEVER use the blue Chlorox tabs or the shock that is sold right beside it. That is just my opinion but I can tell you from experience, I did that one year. I thought this is "Chlorox", it must be good. My water was green, cloudy, murky, anything but clear. So, I added more and the problems...

Pool Store Brand vs. Big Box Store Chlorine Pucks

Wow, that is a lot more than I could have imagined, but at the same time, it does comport with my experience in the past. I had to drain every other year - I just did not get the idea of draining 1-2 feet of water out of a pool that is only 5"4" in the center, so I would do a complete drain and...

Pool Store Brand vs. Big Box Store Chlorine Pucks

Thanks Donaldson. Kroger has these Chlorox Blue tricolor tabs that they sell individually wrapped. Before going to liquid, I could not imagine why anyone would every buy individual tabs, but it is starting to make sense now. I am considering getting a bucket, filling it with water and putting...

Pool Store Brand vs. Big Box Store Chlorine Pucks

Thanks PopcornGirl2. I had actually read your thread Warning About Walmart Liquid Chlorine already. Good info BTW. I had elected to avoid Walmart bleach in favor of stronger stuff available closer to the house. I think there are as many pool stores in my area as Starbucks, maybe the coffee...

Pool Store Brand vs. Big Box Store Chlorine Pucks

Okay, let me start by saying my pool is on a strict liquid diet this year. FYI - anyone on the fence about the BBB/TFPC method (what I call the liquid diet) - do it! You may end up with questions like mine below, but this was the single best decision I ever made in pool ownership. I love my...

Anyone use Lowes for their pool supplies?

+ 1 i switched to the TFPC (BBB) method this year, and on advise here bought the TF100 with speed stir - you want the speed stir. Swirling the tube while counting drops is like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time; possible but takes all your concentration. Let the...

    Test Kits: TF-100 & Taylor K-2006

FYI - TF ships fast and free. I ordered one a couple weeks ago, it left NC same day and was in DFW 48 hours later.

How do you accurately measure chemical additions?

You can go to the local pol store ( avoid eye contact) or better Target or Wal-Mart and get a dedicated measuring cup. I grabbed a plastic 2cup (pint) measure and I just rinse in the pool after adding - just rinse a few feet from where you dumped the chemical.

    A little help is needed

Star Bright, I just joined and was recommended the two kits listed above. I picked the TF-100 (call it coin toss decision that was supported by a slightly lower cost and free shipping). TF shipped same day so not only free shipping but fast too. Also, I was advised to get the speed stir...
