    TA pH issues

When I used pool store testing years ago, their reports always showed that I had iron and also always had cc's in my pool; but they never recommended that those results were a problem or products to fix them. Looking back, after years of testing myself with a TF-100 kit with not one test ever...

Will using bleach for clorination raise the ph of my pool?

Oh one alibi please. One SWCG user on a previous thread actually floated one puck per week of trichlor to simultaneously control pH drift and maintain cya, as he also had quick cya degradation problem for whatever reason. This solved both issue for him; or at least reduced them greatly.

Will using bleach for clorination raise the ph of my pool?

Disclaimer; I'm not an expert. I was corrected by an expert about an assumption that I had made that SWCGs always results in a lot of upward pressure on pH. I developed that assumption via following a dozen threads or so where a pH drift delimma had been being duscussed; ways to reduce acid...

Will using bleach for clorination raise the ph of my pool?

Or keep TA lower than you would using pucks if you're not bound by strict csi limitations.

Will using bleach for clorination raise the ph of my pool?

There are a couple of threads on here that you can find via a search with thorough explanations of the chemical process that occurs regarding sodium hypochlorite and its affect on pH if you like reading chemistry. The more simple answer is that bleach is pH neutral, but it goes up then back down...

    Measuring FC during mustard shock

I found this answer in a similar post inquiry in 2018... I was following a post a few weeks ago with a similar instruction, but can't find it now, so I can't confirm if the recommendation above is exactly as the "experts" recommend to conduct the one-for-one drop/ppm method to half the...

    Experts: TA levels--SWGs

Below is a link with Leslie's advice for using bleach. It does have some truths mixed in with BS (and I'm not referring to baking soda this time): Leslie's Liquid Chlorine.

    Experts: TA levels--SWGs

So if adding a daily dose of bleach in a swimming pool causes only a minuscule increase in the pH level, is it correct to assume then that high pH test results that come after dosing with bleach (we'll say 2 hours after) is due to the inaccuracy of a pH test result, because of high FC levels...

    Experts: TA levels--SWGs

Thanks everyone. So the sense that I've gotten reading forum posts about always having to continually add MA to keep pH in range with SWCG systems being more so than with manually dosed systems is not correct. It is more likely then that either: users have not found their sweet spots through...

    Experts: TA levels--SWGs

I'm a manual doser of LC, aka bleach, but I'm interested in how the experts recommend helping SWG operators keep pH as steady as possible, because I keep reading in the forums about a pH drift problem for those who use SWGs; and how, at least the sense I'm getting, this is something they have to...

    Phosphates

Just to add to the peanut gallery, we're always hoping members will have gained knowledge through time to understand that there were concerns with your levels and the instructuons that the pool store gave you that were concerning before even considering phosphate levels that we would hope all...

Read Pool School, but where do I even start!?

It is still possible to find regular, plain, store brand or Clorox brand bleach in most areas. DG brand at Dollar General Store still has it at some stores in my area in the larger 121 ounce jugs but now at a higher 7.5% concentration. The smaller jugs like you pictured are available at every...

Seem to be using a lot of stabilizer

+1 with mknauss. My 7,500 gallon AG was likewise using 4-4.5 ppm per day until very recently up here in TN in order to daily target FC 7-9 with CYA at 60. That's when my pool water was near 90 degrees. I'm now down to about 2-2.5 ppm per day with the temp around 80 and CYA calculated at 40 and...

    Chlorine demand?

@JoyfulNoise. What an honor to have you answer my post. I can take it to the bank. One question, I've been PM'ing someone in the middle of SLAM. (Frank in FL). He has been keeping his fc level super high. I think he mistook Mknauss's advice to add more chlorine to mean raise it higher. He is at...

    TF-100 Chlorine Cylinder Losing Markings?

Well I've tried air drying but I've not got a short term memory to the point that I'll ever remember them if I leave them somewhere to dry. I have each test kit in a zip lock bag separately. I'm trying to practice a method called trouble free pool and for me, air drying and remembering to put...

    PH Meter and TF-100 Discrepancy

Just to make sure...You're not testing with high fc levels are you? Below 7 gives me accurate results with the Taylor kit included in the TF-100; otherwise, If my fc is high, it'll always show 8. I had a Chlorox brand oto/ph tester and it was even more sensitive to high fc levels. Always showed...

    TF-100 Chlorine Cylinder Losing Markings?

My last vial wore from powder mix staining. This one is the opposite; from trying to keep it clean and dried. TF-100 with the black marks (or used to). I like the tape idea. That's what I'm going to do. My sharpie mark is wearing off.

    Chlorine demand?

I wonder if swg verus manual addition makes any difference at the levels we're both at? From May until mid July, everything was like normal, except that I had never operated at cya levels that high before and don't really like to, because it makes pH testing more tricky and will force me to use...

    Chlorine demand?

Did I learn something new this year? It started with overshooting my cya level goal in the Spring. My test back in May after adding stabilizer and an extra week of mixing was 60. I began keeping a higher-than-ever fc level in my pool. I dose with LC, aka bleach, daily. From the previous six...

    TF-100 Chlorine Cylinder Losing Markings?

I dry mine and my markings wear off too. I had to re mark my 10 ml with a sharpie. I was trying to keep my powder dry was the reason for my drying. I thin mknauss solved the mistery of the missing marks.

FC 5-9 all summer test and target levels CYA 60 TA 50 CH 100 pH 7.4 *no drifting all year CSI -.94 This is exactly what I've done going on four years now. I have an extremely trouble free pool thanks to TFPC; just mostly dosing with bleach each day; but this year I overdosed with cya a tad and...

    Dissapearing CYA

I'm 75 miles due north if a crow flew it in Cookeville, and while we haven't had two feet of rain here on the Highland Rim, we've probably had one foot in three weeks. If you combine test reading inconsistencies, which are hard for humans to eliminate, and half the rain propurted that would...

    Liquid chlorine hard to find

Ollie's Bargain Outlet sells it the cheapest where I live at 10% concentration made by Kik. It's fresh stuff. They keep it only during the season and if I wait too late in the season, it'll be bought back and no longer in the store. In fact, Ollie's is the only place I can get the liquid kind...

Test results, bleach and muriatic acid recommendations?

There is an entire thread dedicated to "best prices for chlorine" sources. I checked out HASA for my own area in middle Tennessee. Their website shows they have only six distribution facilities; all from at or about Dallas TX and farther points west: two in southern CA, one in Northern CA, one...
