Should I get return water at the vacuum port?

Well, after 3 hours on internet research and testing I figured it out. Dumb *** start up tech from the PB put the vacuum cover on one of the returns and the return flush eyeball on the vacuum suction opening😳😡👎. I turned the suction to vacuum just to see, sure enough I was getting suction...

Should I get return water at the vacuum port?

So, I was changing the vacuum cap from white to grey and noticed there was water coming out of the port? Isn’t this on the suction side? Not sure if the valves are adjusted correctly? At the EQ pad the vacuum is on the suction side??

Under construction, plumbing done but leaking at filter

So, we were unable to do shotcrete as we are still leaking from the heat pump and the filter. The Hayward guy showed up today and replaced the Orings on the top and midsection of the filter, both were installed incorrectly at the factory. The filter no longer leaks but what can be done to...

Under construction, plumbing done but leaking at filter

Yep, I plan to bring all of this up. Would be so much easier if everyone just did it correctly, I can‘t see leaks at any other plumbing, I keep looking.

Under construction, plumbing done but leaking at filter

still leaking from the top and middle, now down to 30 Psi. They finished plumbing, electrical, and Steel. ShotCrete next week. The PB Foreman will be coming by Monday. The leak is at the mid section and the top where that round disk sits on top Not happy about that or all the scratches the...

Under construction, plumbing done but leaking at filter

My guess is cracked housing, it’s brand new, out of the box and is failing at 40psi testing. I let them know, my prior fillter, Jandy, never leaked. Hoping this Hayward Equipment is just as reliable.

Under construction, plumbing done but leaking at filter

So plumbing finished today, they pressurized the lines to 40 psi. Getting a consistent drip at the filter clamp and a little water at the top of the Hayward cartridge filter. Plumber tells me they sometimes do this? what? My Jandy never leakedm I check the clamp nut and it’s at spec @ 150...

    New build, plumbing size question

Oh the story gets better, they are only putting in 1 skimmer. Now they are stating there will be no difference between 2” and 2.5”. For the skimmer. I’m fine with one skimmer as the surface area in just under 500. Worked fine on my other pool. just wish I could get a straight answer. I am...

    New build, plumbing size question

We will have two 24” sheer decent water features. I asked for an explanation of the $1,100 cost, the difference of the pipe is like $1.50 per Lf. I think they just put the screws to me since I am in a contract. just trying to see if I will ever recoup $1100 in energy savings from the pipe...

    New build, plumbing size question

there is one skimmer, it’s currently located on the house side near the baja step. I was just thinking it would look better to have it located in the middle of the pool. Oh and the charge for going 2” to 2.5“ is $1,100😳. No way we are adding another skimmer I am sure that would cost another...

    New build, plumbing size question

We are doing a 33x15 rectangular pool, 3hp vs pump, right now the PB has 2” return and 2” suction lines. Is it worth going to 2.5” for $500? Any pro/con? Also I is there any benefit to having the skimmer in the middle of the pool or off to one side? Right now the skimmer Is 1/3 of the length...

    Pool pump questions

So we are embarking on our second pool build. Prior pool was 11k gallons, with spa, 2.5” returns, 3” suction, Jandy 2.7hp VS pump. We are only doing a pool this time, but will have 2 24” sheer decent water features on the back wall. the pool will be 17,500 gallons, 2” return, 2.5” suction...

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

Okay thank you, that was helpful, so the sealplate is the backplate, I’m guessing I will need to replace that also? I believe I installed the shaft seal correctly. I did not use any lube as the install instructions said to use soapy water. But then I also see people saying I must use a lube...

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

I got that, just trying to get some advise from anyone who has dealt with this issue. The new seal solved the leak, but to go out again after 2 wks is odd. Yes I can just replace parts but i’m not sure why it would fail again. clearly something else is going on.

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

back again. So I replaced the impeller, diverter, shaft seal, o-rings, put it all back together and there were no leaks for 2 weeks. This morning I noticed water around the pump again? WTH? How could a new shaft seal work for 2 wks then leak again. Any thoughts? Should I turn off the pump...

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

Well, I am putting it back together, we will see how long it goes, bummer thats there is not a better way to detect a leaking seal. Perhaps a better system.

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

since I replaced the diffuser, o rings, and shaft seal, I am just going to order a new impeller and screw, I don’t want to open this again. Still cant believe I am doing this on a 6 year old pump🙄

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

Thanks, I assume it would be wise to replace the screw/o-ring, rather than take a chance with the old one.

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

Took everything apart, looks like some water was in there as the motor shaft has some light surface rust that removed with steel wool. Pretty easy, noticed my diffuser only had one o ring??? That’s odd. I did purchase a new diffuse, it came with two o rings. The one thing I forgot was to...

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

It appears like its leaking where the motor attaches to the back plate but there does not appear to be a gasket or o ring at this place in the manual? Part 1 and 2. See photos of the pump above. I would assume there is some o ring there but there is no part listed in the manual.

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

looks like a leak where the motor attaches to the wet head. Assuming not sure why it’s leaking. Is this a DIY job? should I assume I need a new shaft seal kit, new diffuser and seal?

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

Gotta love this junk Jandy Equip. 6 years of use I have had the motor replaced once for a bad bearing, heater board go out, transformer go out. Now this after a new motor 3 years ago. So I assume get a seal kit and tear it apart. it’s not a leading plug. Gotta be the main housing seal or...

Jandy 2.7 hp pump has some water on the pad

So I noticed some water on the pad under my pump today, whats the most common issue? Assuming the O ring gasket between the wethead and the motor head? It’s not making noise so I assume it’s not the shaft seal?

Jandy filter gauge just broke off

Jandy filter gauge just broke off

the plastic threaded part that screws into the top of the filter body broke, part #5? this is crazy, it’s never touched by anybody and it’s not in the sun. Now here is the question, how do I release the pressure in the filter? I am going to have to carefully get this broken stub out of the...
