    Plumbing refresh near pump

Spring time in New England!!!! Or at least it feels that way. We've been surprised by April snowstorms before.... Anyway, the nice weather is motivating me to get some work done ahead of pool season, and one job I want to tackle is redoing the PVC for the pump, filter and valves. I'm pretty...

    Replacing PVC Plumbing, any tips?

One of the inlet valve handles is broken and sharp, the plumbing is kind of sticks out more than it needs to, and now I have a suction side leak that I can't track down. I'm going to replace it all this Spring. I'm probably change the paths of the PVC a little, any tips or stuff I shouldn't do?

I’m tired of replacing my pressure gauge

Bring it inside when you close the pool. I use the tft ones with glycerin but they still go bad if I leave them installed through the winter. I took it inside this year and it's working great this spring. Not sure if you all close pools in the winter down there in 'bama

Determine Sand Filter Make/Model to buy a new gasket

My egg-shaped sand filter has a leak at the joint between the top and bottom halves. I assume it needs a new gasket, but I would need to know what filter I have to source the right part. Any idea how I can determine which filter I have?

    High filter pressure, just opened.

The pressure gauge on my filter is high and staying in the 25-30 range, even during and after backwashes. Could this be due to the heavy algae? My pool is thick green, can barely see the middle step. I also just opened the pool to start filtering. All valves are open and plugs removed from...

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

I used the Oatley yellow (cleaner), purple (primer), red (cement) just like I always do for PVC. The cans all say they work on both PVC and CPVC so that's a good sign. Pump is running and no leaks.

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

So we're all in agreement that we don't really know but I should do it anyway? :) Took care of it this afternoon. Filling the pool and then I'll get to test my work!

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

Looks like the 3-way valve is CPVC, do I need special cement/solvent to join to PVC?

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

Yeah that makes sense, thanks again I had no idea I could do this with the valve!

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

That's awesome! The PVC is 1.5", so I could cut flush (or maybe leave a little of the TEE so I don't cut too close) and refit with a 2"? For the union, do you think I can find a similar union for a 2" PVC and keep the mating side of the union? Or do I replace both pieces of the union with a...

Could use some help for fixing a broken PVC (PICS)

Hi All! :D I'm getting ready to open the pool, mostly to clean up a major algae issue that has developed. While I was adjusting valves on my plumbing, one of the old PVC components cracked and needs to be fixed before I put water back in the system. The TEE coming off the 3-way valve now has...

Broken ring around return jet inlet

I couldn't post pics because my quota was full. Just deleted a couple to make room. I ordered a new ring that comes with 2 gaskets, hopefully that's all I need. Should I be concerned about the small tear?

Broken ring around return jet inlet

Thanks, trying to figure out the best way to post pics, it keeps telling me the size is too big even when I shrink them down pretty small.

Broken ring around return jet inlet

Hoping this isnt a major issue. How do I repair this? Do I just replace the ring and maybe a gasket?

Booster Pump Died - What would you do?

:D No problem appreciate the advice. Robots are probably out for now but I'll search for Geebots reviews anyway, thanks!

Booster Pump Died - What would you do?

I've looked into the robots a little bit, seems like they all have reliability problems and the polaris is just so easy to throw in and leave it in if I'm not using the pool for a few days. Mostly, I can't shell out $1000 or so right not, but glad to hear it's working for you and I'll definitely...

Booster Pump Died - What would you do?

Hi guys. The booster pump for my polaris cleaner died and I'm trying to figure out my options. SWG 40K+ inground gallon pool with a sand filter. The main pump is working fine and the booster is only used for the polaris. I've confirmed the pump is getting power, and replaced the capacitor...

    Crackling Sound from Multivalve.

Are you using skimmer socks? I was when I SLAM'd and had similar situation. I was afraid I had a suction side leak (that I couldn't find) but taking the socks out solved it for me. There was too much stuff getting filtered out by the skimmer socks reducing flow and making the pump struggle...
