    Replace standpipe only?

Just make sure that if you DIY this, you use something that can handle the PSI you run - make sure that you don't decrease the internal diameter of the vertical, and that whatever adhesives you use, if any, can withstand the conditions they will be in and won't poison you all. Personal note -...

    DE in my sand filter

Fantastic to hear! Thanks for sharing your positive experience with TFP's http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/133-add-de-to-a-sand-filter guide and many threads discussing it further! Any questions going forward with the DE? Remember you don't have to do it after all backwashes, only as...

In case you didn't read that whole thread I shared, I'll share my favorite part: I believe this might be the manufacture website: http://www.ussilica.com/isp/filtration/ This looks like an Amazon listing to it: https://www.amazon.com/Mystic-White-Swimming-Pool-Filter/dp/B00VSNUO6S If you do...

According to user posts over the years, that particular brand has had some consistency issues, which may or may not have been locally limited due to it being produced at several places across the country. The brand has been very friendly in working with us to clarify aspects of their product...

    Cleaning Cartridges with Muriatic acid

Water pressure is a great thing! Have you ever used dishwasher detergent or TSP to clean the cart? You need to do that anyway before MA to avoid damaging the cart. Info here: https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/4224-Re-How-to-clean-a-cartridge-filter. - - - Updated - - - Maybe the...

    Cleaning Cartridges with Muriatic acid

I'm no doctor, so can't speak to that. I would suggest, regardless if there is a correlation or not, to avoid any situation where the DE can be described as "dusty" which is the exact opposite of what we want. We suggest following all handling precautions as indicated on the product packaging...

    Cleaning Cartridges with Muriatic acid

Congrats on surviving on pool store testing! Most people can't put up with that for long after learning about TFP. If you're looking to break free from the pool store testing, the best value/customer support/freshness is the TF-100, with the K-2006C being a great choice too. Both use the same...

    Cleaning Cartridges with Muriatic acid

This could be wrong, but I've heard the backwashed DE usually works its way into the soil due to how small it is. Some places prohibit the use through, for various reasons, and if it you learn you're not allowed to use it where you are perhaps you should consider the switch to CF or another...

    Enhancing cartridge filtration

Just to make sure I understand, you're trying to make the 5 year old cartridge filter better until the new one gets here? If so, while not an official TFP suggestion, there is a filter aid called cellulose fiber that can be added to cartridge filters to potentially capture finer particles...

    Finished Stenner

Thanks! Even when dosing my pool, it still seems like I have to invert and shake a but to get my last few drops out. I'd be tempted to dump like 95% in the tank, then finish them all out in the pool, but if the spout allows for complete drainage, you've found a great tool!

    Finished Stenner

Very cool! Thanks for posting your system! I've wondered if something like the smart spout existed - When using the smart spout the way you are, does it help refill your tank faster, easier, without spills, emptying the jugs more completely or what are the benefits you're experiencing/you...

Hello and congrats on your first post! I'd be happy to get an Intex expert to help you, but could *carefully* take a couple pictures of how it is setup now? Please do not drop your phone or camera in the pool.

How many hours per day do you run your pump?

Central Florida, fully exposed pool to brutal sun, water temp at least 86 degrees, frequent rain, never more than 4 hours a day in the summer, usually noon-4pm, and if forecast is dry and not windy, noon-2pm 2 hours only. Zero algae, but requires more frequent brush/vac due to debris on floor...

    Filter Style Sanity Check

I've worked with both sand and cartridge, but not DE. For me, when looking towards future pools, I only see cartridges. Here's my thinking so far: Cartridge: 1. Cleaning cartridge takes time, but i listen to audiobook or music, so I use the time well 2. On the few times when I slip up and...
