    Pool equipment set up help

Hi - hoping someone had an idea of how to deal with a sinking pad. Our filter is on a plastic pad that has been sinking each season, it must be putting strain on the piping. The pad currently sits on dirt covered with midsize stone. Ideally, I’d like to fit the filter and pump on a larger...

    Correct order?

Hi! Would someone please remind me the correct order in which to test/adjust levels? I know to make sure my pH is in the appropriate range before I start the SLAM process, but after slam is complete, what should I do next? TA? CH? CYA? Thank you!

    CH level

Hi - I have a 28k gallon gunite pool and live in the Northeast. I want to make sure my CH level is appropriate before I close the pool next month. I know the range is very broad. Here are my numbers: FC 4 CC 0 PH 7.6 TA 80 CYA 30 CH 350 I read somewhere that if you live in a cold winter...

    Normal chlorine loss?

In this case, I guess it’s great to be average. Thanks for your reply!

    Normal chlorine loss?

Hi All, I opened the pool a few weeks ago, completed the SLAM and mustard algae SLAM last week. I did the mustard algae to be safe bc we had suspected MA at the end of last season. All levels have been normal but I feel like I’m losing excessive chlorine ~ 3ppm/day. Is this average? We’ve...

    Persistent algae

Thanks for your reply. I didn’t consider that it was mustard algae. This is the first year I’ve had algae and I’ve only had to SLAM at the beginning of previous seasons. I’m very diligent in thoroughly brushing and properly maintaining the water chemistry so I’m surprised it is mustard algae...

    Persistent algae

Hi, I’ve been using TFP techniques for a few years and our pool has truly been trouble free. This season, I’ve seen a few spots of yellowish green algae in the same location in the shallow end. Every few weeks the spots reappear. 3x now, I’ve SLAMed the pool, scrubbed the walls and it passes...

    Fixing Grout above tiles

Hi, We have what appears to be cosmetic cracking above our tiles. There is no movement of the tiles. Does anyone have a suggestion of what kind of product I can use to patch this myself? Thanks, Kim

    Concrete patching?

Hi, There are a few cracks above the tiles in our in ground pool. Does anyone have experience using a product that can patch this without lowering the water or closing the pool for a period of time? Thanks! Kim

    Liquid CYA?

It takes a REALLY long time for the sock filled CYA to disolve into my pool. I have to squeeze it very often and it still takes days. I think the extra expense is worth it to me to pour it in and be done, just wanted to make sure there wasn't a chemical reason I shouldn't use it (extra...

    Liquid CYA?

Hi, I've been using the sock method to get CYA into my pool each year. It takes forever for the granuals to break down even with frequent squeezing. Is there a liquid option for CYA that is acceptable (ie doesn't add anything else)? Thanks! Kim

    Help with TA

Ok, SLAM is complete and all looks good except the TA is high. Here are my numbers this am using TF100 FC 4 CC 0 TA 230 PH 7.5 CYA 30 CL 375 The jets are pointed to the surface and I've been walking around splashing the surface with the skimmer (too cold to get in!). Thoughts? Thank you! Kim

    Help with TA

I do have the the returns pointed to the surface. I'll revisit when I'm finished the SLAM process. I adjusted and measured the PH before I upped the chlorine, so that number should be ok. Thank you!

    Help with TA

Hi All, Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise! I'm having trouble with elevated TA. In preparation to SLAM, I lowered the PH from 7.8 to 7.2 expecting that my TA would also lower from the 220 reading I got at opening 3 days ago. Pool has been running 24hrs since opening and water is...

    What's your current pool temp?

86 without solar. A bit warm for me, but the kids and my parents love it.
