    Pool covers???

I just ordered a Sun2Solar 8mil 16X32 that I'll trim to 14X32. Hopefully together, my husband and I will be able to handle it. What do you think of making a pole to roll it onto out of a PVC pipe covered with pool noodles?

    Pool covers???

Thanks! Some of them are pretty pricy. Do we need a reel? Is a thin, light one easy to put on and take off?

    Pool covers???

Well.... This morning I learned we can't afford to heat the pool to 90 and swim every day :snorkle:. I need advice on a solar cover and reel. We do like to swim just about every day and sometimes twice a day so we need something that will be easy to roll out and retract. Thanks for...

    Muriatic Acid

On another note I alienated the Leslie's store guy. We returned a 30lb pail of Alkalinity Up (aka baking soda) and the phosphorus stuff that they sold me on my first visit before I found TFP... $115.00 worth. Last week I put 4lbs baking soda in the pool for a grand total of $2.25 :p.

Thanks. I guess I'll go to Lowe's and buy a truck load

    Muriatic Acid

How long will this new pool have a heavy demand for Muriatic Acid? I'm having to put in 24oz to 48oz almost every day. Thank you to everyone for your help. I'm getting more and more confident with the testing and the pool is beautiful. We've been swimming every day, sometimes twice a day.

White wispy stuff floating in pool.

Also my pH meter lately has been consistently lower than the view scale with Taylor and Pentair tests. I tried to recalibrate but couldn't get it up to the 8.6 buffer. The adjustment screw wouldn't turn any higher. Is the meter toast or should I try to recalibrate again?

White wispy stuff floating in pool.

Thank you. I'll do that. FC up to 8 and CC .5 this morning so I put the SWCG back on auto and moved it from 50% to 70%. We had a good bit of rain this last week. Water level was high but backwashing the filter brought it down. Filter water was pretty dirty.

White wispy stuff floating in pool.

Thank you for replying... I didn't think it possible to have an algae so soon. The pool was just built and first filled Feb. 1st. We have been using some funky sunblock that leaves a white paste on our skin. I pray that's it. Also I've been using a lot of hair conditioner.

White wispy stuff floating in pool.

HELP!!! Newby freaking out!!! We just notices wispy, stringy white stuff floating in the pool. I think it may be white water mold?? It's been cool so we have the heater at 90. The visual chlor test consistently shows over 5ppm but I just did a drop test and the FC is 2 and CC.5. My CYA...

    Hayward Colorlogic LED Lights

I decided to give it a try. If it doesn't work I can send it back. If it does, I have a remote control that will work with an app on my phone for less than 60 bucks. Please wish me luck. I'll report back ;)

    Hayward Colorlogic LED Lights

Our pool lights are controlled by a tiny Lutron remote and it is less than ideal. Are there any recommendations for a proper Controller for these lights. The Hayward Colorlogic Light Controller costs anywhere between $225 and $379 and has terrible reviews. We aren't able to sync the lights...

    Any advice?

Very basic. does not measure CC. I definitely need the TFP to measure all other chemicals, but I do like it for a quick chlor/pH check.

    Any advice?

No. It's just a basic 5 drops in the color graduated vial, eyeball and match the colors but you then add single drops of a reagent and note the change in color on the vial. A chart tells you how much Muriatic Acid to add depending on # of drops and volume of pool.

    Any advice?

Thank you Kathy. I do have the app but haven't tried it yet. I'll give it a go. Thank you Splash! Our water temp is 85-90ish with the heater on. In Pool Math app I entered chemistry values and using it's suggestions I added 24oz Muriatic Acid and 2 - 1lb socks of CYA (it called for 4lbs but...

    Any advice?

We have passed the 30 day point and have started the SWG and heater. Man... The SWG pumps out some chlorine!! And the heater makes the swim heavenly :) Chemicals with TFP kit are Free Chlor 3 Total Chlor 3, pH 8.2, Alka 80, CYA 40, Salt 3200. I must say that I like the Pentair kit (that the...

Thank you for responding. We have a 15,000 gallon plaster pool, Hayward salt system that we haven't started using yet because the pool is a new build (Filled on Feb 1st). Hayward sand filter, hayward heater and 3 deck jets (we use occasionally).

Thank you for your reply. Why do they recommend under100ppb? Ours at 655ppb had me concerned but after I read some of the issuers with NoPhos I balked.

    Phosphates

Hello to all. We are total newby's to the pool world. Our new build 15,000 gallon pool was filled February 1st and we're just getting started. The local Leslie's has been very helpful but I'm nervous about adding the recommended NoPhos. Phosphates are currently 655ppb. We haven't started up...
