    Central Texas Paper Wasps

Pool is in Austin, TX and every year around this time my pool has frequent visitors of paper wasps. Yesterday I disposed of 5 nests from my soffits and I assume they're also nesting on all my neighbors houses. I also see them flying out of gutters so I assume they're in there too. Routinely...

How to do SLAM with chlorine shortage

Fair enough. I just retested the CYA myself and it's ~40 which puts me at ease. My TA is still quite high even though I added a lot of acid this morning. Current test results: FC: 0 Ph: 7.1 TA: 110 CYA: 45 Going to test CH now. Is it ok to start the slam with a TA that high?

How to do SLAM with chlorine shortage

Those results were from the last time I was at leslies which was 2 weeks ago. I tested the TA and PH this morning to get those in line before i started the SLAM process

How to do SLAM with chlorine shortage

Calcium numbers from last test was 288. Cya is 65 There was recently some rain so cya may be a little lower. I did manage to find a wholesale place on braker and burnet and got 16 gallons of 12.5% that I think will work. Am I naive to think 16 gallons is enough? I hope not lol.

How to do SLAM with chlorine shortage

So algae has taken hold in my pool and its fairly worse than its been before so I decided to fully commit to SLAM this time around. My question is. What do you do when there's a liquid chlorine shortage. Ive called leslies, local stores, home depot, walmart and there is an extremely limited...

    Ideal cyanuric level

I’m OP. I think someone else may have hijacked the thread :D I do not use a solar cover. My daily FC loss is around 2-3 I’d say. I’m assuming that’s normal for my area in central TX

    Ideal cyanuric level

Hello, New pool as of three months ago. Balancing and testing going fine. currently I’m adding approximately 32oz of 12.5% bleach a day and I’m curious if a higher CYA level is better for my location or if this is the expected amount of chlorine I should be adding to the pool. when do CYA...

FC from 6 to 0.6 in 48 hours?

Thanks for the info. What does an overnight chlorine test entail? I added chlorine late tonight (9pm). I suppose I test it again in the morning prior to the sun hitting it?

FC from 6 to 0.6 in 48 hours?

This may be a remedial question but this is my first FC pool. Old pool was SWG and I didn’t maintain myself. If you look at my testing logs here: PoolMath Logs it feels like I’m adding an excessive amount of chlorine to the pool every other day. Usually anywhere between 32-64 oz. even then...

Does the PB have my schedule set too excessive?

Thats a good tip, to start I simply turned it off on 10pm to 8am because my original calculations were incorrect for flow rate and GPH. In actuality, the PB was turning over the pool 22 times per day :D

Does the PB have my schedule set too excessive?

I'm trying to calculate how many times I'm turning over the pool and it feels like this schedule is extremely excessive. I think i can get away with 10% speed instead of 50% until 11pm and then off from 11pm to 8am? Pump: Hayward Tristar VS 950 Filter High (100% speed) • 9:00 am to 8:00 pm...

    New pool, pebbletec finish stained/discoloration?

New pool was just finished ~ 2 months ago, Haven't brushed in two weeks or so and started again today because I thought the discoloration may be due to still having concrete/plaster dust present? You can see the odd color on the sun shelf, theres also spots in the shallow end and its hard to...

    Irritated skin after first swim

Also, should I be raising the FC to 5-7 range? I see from the CYA/FC chart, that minimum is 4, my target should be 5-7?

    Irritated skin after first swim

So in having my first non-SWCG pool and fully balancing chemicals for the first time, I'm curious as to how I can reduce skin irritation. After swimming yesterday and two showers, my skin still feels irritated and maybe this is just expected. My current levels: FC: 4 PH: 7.7 TA: 80 CH: 250 CYA...

Pool math app, chemical additions > 3" stabilizer tablets?

So I've been using strips for a spot check (and to determine CYA), and also doing a full test with a pentair kit they gave me for FC, PH & TA. I cant find a picture of the test strips online right now, but they test for four things (ph, FC, TA and CYA) I just ordered a taylor k-2006 today but...

Pool math app, chemical additions > 3" stabilizer tablets?

Oh wow, thats interesting information. I'm glad I didn't take what the pool builder said for face value. He said (chuck four pucks in every other week, you might have to add bleach) I've been using concentrated bleach (8.25%) up to this point, is that sufficient for FC source if I stop using pucks?

Pool math app, chemical additions > 3" stabilizer tablets?

Hello, Just started using the pool math app to log additions of chemicals to the pool (bleach, muriatic acid) but I can't find how to add stabilier tablets to my inline chlorinator. I believe the tablets I'm using are 3" trichlor tablets. I'm adding two every other week in addition to bleach to...
