Is it as simple as moving the multiport valve to “recirculate” in order to bypass the filter?

My booster pump died last year and I used that as an opportunity to upgrade to a robot (Dolphin). It does an amazing job so I’m ready to get rid of the dead booster pump and re-plumb the line as an additional return. I’d love some advice on the best way to accomplish this.

Steve - Just a suggestion…keep an eye on your actuator valve cycling between the pool and spa. In our last deep freeze in TUL, my actuator froze before anything else. In the middle of the night, it drained the spa and caused all kinds of issues.

I used old welcome mats to cover the skimmer lids & auto fill lids last year. It helped keep them free of ice. Hoping it warms up quickly for all of us! edited to say: For those of you pulling the plug and draining, don’t forget to shut the breakers off to your equipment pad.

The wind is wicked. Pool is holding steady at 37 but it’s 1 degree air temp and only getting colder. I think this is my last rodeo. I’m going to learn to close my pool and invest in a cover.

For those of you who have switched from a pressure side cleaner to a robot, how did you handle the plumbing of that line? Is it as simple as removing the dead/unused booster pump and replacing with PVC Pipe?

You mentioned better ways to make those fittings leak proof...should I replace the clamps with regular schedule 40 fittings on the pump? Just treat the flex pipe like rigid pipe? Thx for your help!

Ok, sounds good. Where should I disconnect the booster line? Both sides of the pump? Edited to add: I’m tenting the pad now and trying to warm things up just enough to melt the ice on the booster.
