    Intellichlor Low Flow Alert

Any thoughts on why I might be getting a low flow alert on my Intellichlor SWG? My flow meter says 50 gpm. I know it’s not the most accurate, but useful for baseline, relative readings. The issue has only cropped up in the past week. Salt levels are fine at 3200 ppm. Here are recent levels...

Easy/Intellitouch: Gas Heater false no demand...

So, all systems are functional in my DIY upgrade. I'm into testing and configuration. I've adjusted the actuator stop points, lights are working, great flow, and in manual mode the improved flow has eliminated the start/stop issue the heater had for three seasons. Awesome! Here's my next...

    Pentair Easy/Intellitouch Communication Port Question

OK, so getting close to completing my DIY automation upgrade. As I get more fluent in Pentair-ese, I'm coming to the conclusion that any COM port will work equally well for any connection. Does that seem right? Any notable exceptions? Here's my specific example: I have an Intellitouch Load...

Equipment Pad Overhaul, Upgrade, Automation - Part 1

I've gotten a few questions about my equipment upgrade DIY project, so I thought I'd lay out the major pieces here. This is what we moved in to... 2" plumbing with a 1.5" multiport valve; one vintage Jandy valve and two newer Neverlubes; a vintage Anthony brass single speed pump; Pentair FNS...

New Intellitouch with SCG... rewire system transformer?

In the middle of a major upgrade and came up with a question. The Pentair IntelliTouch Load Center has a system transformer that comes factory wired for 120 VAC. There are instructions for rewiring it for 240 VAC. I'm running 240 VAC for major equipment and 120 VAC circuits for outlets, lights...

    CH and Salt Levels

So, 2nd year TFPer here. For this season, I feel like I have a solid handle on Cl, CYA and pH. So I am experimenting a little with CH and Salt levels and trying low levels of Borates (~30 ppm). Here are my latest test results: Temp 87 FC 1.5 pH 7.7 TA 110 CH 275 CYA...

Ever Blow Out Suspected Clogs Through the Valve Housing?

I'm determined to solve my main drain issues, and I'm due for valve maintenance anyway. So, my plan is to pull the guts from my three diverter valves, and while I have them open, build myself a little 2 in PVC elbow adaptor for my air compressor and try (once again) blowing the lines clear of...

    New Intelliflo!!

Got my new Intelliflo installed this weekend and am loving it. The old brass housing Anthony was a trooper, but a relic. Will have to look into whether that old work house has any value or is ready for the scrap heap. Had a new fence put in and the yard has really opened up. Delaying relocation...

    SLAM Day!!

Here we go. Loaded in 18 jugs of bleach. Water temp of 68. Adjusted pH to ~7.35. Got as many leaves and debris out as possible. CYA holding steady at 50. FC was basically zero. Added ~756 oz bleach for target FC of 20. Will test FC again in a couple of hours and see how rapidly it's dropping...

    Dialing it in...

Just an update on my newbie TFP method progress. After a partial drain and refill, receipt of my TF-100 test kit, cheap bleach, muriatic acid and supplies, I couldn't be happier. Despite being in Northern Virginia (first snow tonight), I keep the pool open and modestly heated late. Getting ready...

A Convert and a hearty Thank You to TFP!!

...and I haven't even fixed the actual problem yet. But the wonderful people and insights on here have already got the proverbial lightbulb blazing. I'll lead with the end: I have a TF100 kit on the way and have identified the best and cheapest sources for recommended chemicals in my area...

Anything like an automation buyers guide...?

I've searched the threads and forums and I get that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to pool automation, nor should there be. I guess what I'm looking for is something that could take some basic parameters, like pool size and equipment/stuff to control, and give some basic guidelines on...

    Considering equipment relocation... any advice?

We are thinking about getting bids to relocate our pool equipment (heater, filter, new pump, possible automation upgrade). Anyone have recent experience in having this done? I'm guessing we need a PB/renovator and will probably need to coordinate with an electrician and gas company to move the...

OK, so robot... any great ideas for the connected spa?

So, I'm looking at robotic pool cleaners. Leaning toward the Doheny Discovery, mostly because of the price. I guess I'll have to read up more on the main drain issue. I have two in the deep end. Any ideas or insights for keeping the spa clean, as well? Are there mini-robots? I'm guessing...
