    DE filter replacement help

Thanks for the info. Thinking of going DE after reading more and they are suggesting a quad de cartridge filter. Any concerns about going quad cartridge? Seems like it will be similar maintenance and care wise to my current DE filter.

    DE filter replacement help

I have an old (10+ years guess as original install unknown) Nautilus 48 DE filter that has sprung a leak on the drain has cracked. Tried to repair it with epoxy but although the leak has reduced from spray to drip it still leaks, and I noticed another small leak on the front were the multi...

Safe to swim with Stenner pump running for chlorine injection

Had a discussion with a friend about it being safe/unsafe to swim in the pool with the Stenner pump running. My Stenner pumps approximately 55oz an hour with the runtime usually being an hour a day. I think the the small amount of chlorine being sent out of the returns is likely doing a...

    Possible pool leak after re-plaster

So, the leak detection guys were awesome. Verified that my Polaris line was not leaking. Really happy that i can keep using the cleaner. The leak turned out to be about 3 inches in from the deep end return port. They speculated that the joint between the old plumbing and new outlet did not...

    Possible pool leak after re-plaster

Sorry, for the delay response its been a crazy week or so. I ended up finding a wet patch of grass in between pool and pump that was saturated with water. Hoping one of the leaks is here so no concrete cutting. After capping off the Polaris line on both ends the patch is starting to dry out...

    Possible pool leak after re-plaster

Hoping to get some help with a possible leak. Pool was re-plastered 3 weeks ago and started to notice water was dropping faster than usual. Also to consider we started using the Polaris cleaner we had not used before. The pool guy said that maybe the Polaris line had a leak that was made worse...

    Stenner pump install

Thanks for all the info. I got up and running last weekend and have been working to dial it in. Have been meaning to post some pics(will try tonight) but the week got away from me and have not made it here lately. So far I am very happy with the setup and decided on using 12.5% as it is the...

    Stenner pump install

Thank you all for the helpful information and it has me feeling less worried about the back flow. Am hoping to build a wood box around my tank to keep it out of the sun and provide a mounting place for the pump. I got the idea from another members install. I have no space on my pad for the...

    Stenner pump install

Regnar Do you have a check valve on your setup? Does the pump hold back the pressure from the small drip so it does not fill your chlorine tank? Scanning some of the posts on here about check valve leak it seems like some people have a similar leak, but a few state they have no water come...

    Stenner pump install

Okay I was able to get the check valve screwed in with the correct fitting after a trip to Home depot. I was hoping to have the check valve installed and waiting while i get the rest of the stuff setup. However my check valve seems to have a slow leak it bubbles slowly and then drips a drop...

    Stenner pump install

Did some plumbing today and installed a T like Bandit5 recommended, but ran into some problems installing the check valve. A 1/2 inch screw cap goes in fine to the threads but the check valve does not seem to be able to get a grip on the threads. The threads don't look messed up on the check...

    Stenner pump install

No worries on the delay. I just got my pool back up and running last Thursday and still waiting on my blue tank to come in. Going to end up re-doing my pad plumbing this weekend to install the tap for the Stenner check valve and fix some leaky fittings, and shorten the runs to the de filter...

    Stenner pump install

Bandit5 thanks for the info. I plan to replace the pipe that has my chlorinator and using this will make the install nice and clean. Stodds: Great to see another fellow Texas on the site. I would not mind a photo when you have some time. My pump arrives Thursday, but I may be delayed on...

    Multiport valve replace or rebuild

so answering my own question yes I do need a new unit. I will post pics if anyone is interested. Spider gasket was missing chunks, but more concerning is that at least one of the outlets had brittle parts of pvc that cracked to the touch. It's been an expensive couple of months. If only I knew...

    Multiport valve replace or rebuild

Update: so with the pump off. If i move the handle to waste or closed and then back to filter I hear the pipes start to empty out of water and then when the pump turns on it spits large amounts of DE into the pool via return.

    Multiport valve replace or rebuild

so as part of my search for a cause of DE leaking into my pool I noticed that my multiport valve is in a bit of bad shape. I looked at inyo and they says that my model is no longer available. Is it worth trying to fix this up or am i due for a replacement. What parts or replacement do you all...

Nautilus FNS 48 leaking DE into pool

Wow that does look like a really good option for a replacement manifold and you get rid of that air relief part that seems to go bad often. I am going to take it apart in a few minutes before it gets to hot outside and see what I am dealing with grid wise.

Nautilus FNS 48 leaking DE into pool

Thanks for the info. I plan to take it apart again tomorrow and actually pull the grids out and inspect them further. Really would be cool if it was the air relief cover missing that is letting that stuff through. I would guess I have about 2-3 scoops of de in the pool at the moment. On...

    Stenner pump install

Thanks for the info. I have seen a few posts about using a trash can to house the 15 gallon and help keep it cool. Thinking of getting a 55gal plastic drum along with the 15gal with a plastic snap lid fill the bottom with some rocks or sand and then place the 15 gallon inside and drill holes...

Nautilus FNS 48 leaking DE into pool

So, i backwashed my filter for the first time last weekend on my own. Before the pool cleaning folks were taking care of it. Once I backwashed and put more DE in I started to notice DE was being blown back into the pool and the Robot was picking it up over the next couple of days. Today I took...

    Stenner pump install

Interesting idea on putting it in the ground. I think I will be sticking to gallon size for purchase. I tried calling around and had no luck finding a bulk chlorine provider. Janitorial supply places would sell me 1 gallon cans in bulk cases(not much saving over Walmart) and chemical places...

    Stenner pump install

bard. is the walmart 10% the pool essentials? it sells for 3.64 at my Walmart and never went on sale. Leslie's sells 4 * 12% for 17.99. Unless I am mistaken it seems like Leslie is my cheapest option. I can also get HASS refill from a local pool place for 4* 12% at 18.99 and I have been for a...

    Stenner pump install

I just placed an order for a Stenner pump fixed rate 100PSI 10GPD with 1/4 UV. :) Going to use a digital light timer to control run time. Planning to get a 15 gallon blue jug container to hold my chlorine, but had a a few questions. 1. Should I continue getting 12% liquid chlorine from pool...

    pool timer manual switch

Yup daily checking will be required until I get the hang of it. I have three bleech at 6% 121 oz each. Pool math says I need 3.4 jugs to reach FC=8. I guess Ill put what I have in and retest in the morning and grab some 10% liquid chlorine. Thanks for the help

First test done. Get me off to a good start.

Okay so i just did the weekly test as suggested and I went from FC 8 to a 0. When I drop the power in and mix it stays clear. I stoped using the chloronator and floating tab dispenser. Is it possible for the FC to drop this quickly in a week? How do i resolve? How often should I be adding...

First test done. Get me off to a good start.

Just got my test kit TF-100 on Friday. Had a company maintain it for the first month as i got moved in. In their four visits they shocked and put stabilizer in almost every visit. Also previous owner and this new company used chlorinator with tabs and floating tabs dispenser in the pool. I plan...
