    FC causing wrinkles?

I keep a pretty tight grip on my numbers for my pool, I think. But I am new at this (3 years as pool owner). The first liner we had was not installed or made correctly so they sent the crew out to drain, remeasure, remake the liner. They installed the second liner this spring, and from the...

Pool fine all season then sudden loss FC

Lol, it was off yesterday all day but we are surrounded by cottonwoods and at times it looks like it's snowing! I test for CC everytime and the highest I have ever gotten is .5 ? Is that normal to never have any CC?

Pool fine all season then sudden loss FC

Thanks for the help to both of you. I got it to 12, kept it at 12 all day, was at 11.5 this morning, still has just a very fine "touch" of cloudy. Stay with the slam? or kick on SWG? We have forecasted thunderstorms all day and we have auto cover so it's gonna be hard to test today.

Pool fine all season then sudden loss FC

Just noticed cloudiness yesterday, looks like I need to slam. Has been up and running for 1 month in KC area SWG pool, salt a little low, CYA very low. Salt 2950 CYA 30 FC .5 CC 0 ph 7.4 Since CYA is low, do I need to get that up BEFORE I slam to at least 60-70? When do I add salt? I guess...

    Struggle to keep FC up

Done! Happy to contribute. Set the new one at 60% last night after my son's ballgame and woke up this morning to a healthy FC of 5 without adding any LC for the first time this summer! Looking back, I think I slammed it 2x this summer because I thought it was pre algae and instead it just...

    Struggle to keep FC up

So if my OCLT is <1, w SWG off, and SWG on at 100% 24 hours a day is not adding to my FC, is it even remotely possible the SWG is working?

    Struggle to keep FC up

And PB just texted me to tell me "there's a lot of things that can consume chlorine so we will have to analyze and make sure we are covering our bases" and "the machine does not use up salt to create chlorine, the salt doesn't go down because of consumption it only goes down because of splash...

    Struggle to keep FC up

So supposedly the builder is brining up a more detailed test for SGC, even though it running at 100% right now 24 hours a day, isn't adding any FC to my pool. Also want to know if I've tested for phosphates??? - - - Updated - - - Also, I asked him if it's running at 100% 24 hours a day, why...

    Struggle to keep FC up

    Struggle to keep FC up

So I guess I'm at the point where I need to ask, how does one know if the SWG isn't doing what it's supposed to do? Not saying that's where I am, but like I said way earlier in the thread, I've slammed 2x this summer, and last summer I ran my SWG no higher than 33% the entire summer, I'm...

    Struggle to keep FC up

It's set at 72%. dropped from 4.0 to 2.0 during the day with no swimmers and pool covered...I will get it back to 4.0 with LC, what should I set it at now? I'm running pump 24 hours a day.

    Struggle to keep FC up

Okay, so yesterday eve was at 13, tonight at 7.0...should I wait til I get to 4.0 to turn on SWG (cya 55 so rounded up to 60--which shows 4.0 on chart)? pH was 7.2 fyi if that matters.

Well, live and learn. I misread and when you said target I jumped in my brain to target SLAM...so I guess I slammed it, and didn't need to...So should I turn off SWG?

    Struggle to keep FC up

I should've clarified. I redid chemicals tonight to be solid before figuring out how much LC to add and did them in a hurry this afternoon. So wanted to be more accurate. I had a CYA of 55 so bumped it up to 60 on the chart. So I added just now 10 gall of LC to get me to 24. I am running...

    Struggle to keep FC up

So this is second summer with our pool and I pretty much coasted through last summer bumping SWG up a hair here and there to keep FC around 3-4...Usually bounced between 30-35% on the setting. I did end up getting a cloudy pool and algae bloom later in the summer but one SLAM took care of it...

    Losing FC too quick?

Awesome. Thanks for the insight everyone. I am running the pump around the clock. I'll check it when I get home but suspect I need to slam it. If it's close to where it was yesterday pm I'll just slam it, thought process being, even WITH the SWG running I lost 4 FC ppm overnight...and have...
