Just curious- how would I go about disabling it and filling it in?

    Help Finding Flat Drain Cover

It's my understanding that yes, if I only have one drain, then flat covers are illegal. But since I have 2 drains off the same pipe, then that's not the case? 2 drains = no suction danger, right?

    Help Finding Flat Drain Cover

I have 2 drains- so I don’t need the new safety style type- that causes my robot cleaner to get stuck. Pool is ~20yrs old? Anyone know what/where to find a replacement like this?

Robot for Large & Small Debris?

My side suction just isn't cutting it. I'm looking for a robot that can handle both fine and large debris (twigs, leaves, etc). I'd like a wall scrubber too. There's spo many out there now- what do you guys recommend? Thanks!

    Advice on my Levels?

Just had my water tested (I DO own the pool test kit, I wanted some more solid numbers to back up my test)... Adjusted Alkalinity: 172.9 PH: 7.9 FC: 0.0 Calcium Hardness: 400 Stabilizer: 20 Phosphate: 1000 Obviously, I need to get my CYA up. I was thinking in the low 80's, since, I'm in AZ and...

Advice on a Good In-line Leaf Catcher?

I didn't realize they need to stay at a specific orientation? Don't you want to flood them so there's no air inside? When you do that they sink, but, stay fairly level with the alignment of the hoses?

Advice on a Good In-line Leaf Catcher?

Got a Hayward Leaf Catcher to go with my new side suction poolvergnuegen. I have to use all my muscle strength in conjunction with a screw driver to pry the lid away from the base. I mean this thing is seriously TIGHT. Additionally, the rubber gasket has already broken. Is this normal for these...

Dumping my Robot for a Suction Side? I have questions...

Thanks for the reply. Will it help if I use a leaf catcher? Assuming the twigs get sucked right into the hose and not get bound up in the wheels, etc. The robot I had struggled with twigs as well- constantly had to take it apart and fish them out of the gears and whatnot... stupid trees.

Dumping my Robot for a Suction Side? I have questions...

I've had a Dolphin Active 30i for a few years now. I always keep it in the pool, run it 1-2 times/day. I've had some problems with it, warranty service, doesn't run, cord tangles easily, broken cord, etc- but I think it's just not cut out for the job. My pool is surrounded by large trees, and we...

Chloralen from Wal-Mart ok to use?

Liquid Chlorine shortage is hitting- can't find the normal stuff anywhere. I saw Cloralen at wally world for about $2-3/gal- but can't find any specs on the % of chlorine it is, and if there's any other 'additives' to it. I DID scan the MSDS, but no avail. If it's good to use (and not expired)...

20yr old SubPanel- No GFCIs. Advice on Moving/Upgrading?

Ahhh ok. Thank you for all the help! So basically, I can keep the box the same as it is- just add GFCI breaker to the main and verify/replace the outlet. Awesome. Thank you!!!

20yr old SubPanel- No GFCIs. Advice on Moving/Upgrading?

Ahhh ok- so just to clarify- I can replace the 2-pole CB for the pump in the main with a GFCI. I can keep the CB in the main for the light a NON-GFCI, as long as I have it running thru a GFI outlet (that is tested and working). I can yank out the timer from that box if I want to (I don't need...

20yr old SubPanel- No GFCIs. Advice on Moving/Upgrading?

Yes, the outlet is GFI (even tho it looks to be 20+yrs old, I need to test it). It appears to be pigtailed with the lights. So that's ok to do? Or is it better to run the main breaker as GFI for the light/outlet? Also- If I install a GFI in the main panel- should I go with a single or double...

20yr old SubPanel- No GFCIs. Advice on Moving/Upgrading?

Here's pics of what I got installed now. I'm looking to move the box about 1' to the side, and possibly 1' down so I don't have to pigtail new wires, and just keep the existing wires in tact. I'd like to cut the copper/emt tubes, and connect electrical PVC pipe w/ 90's to the new location. I'd...

Using Side Suction for Waterfall Intake/Pump?

I have a side suction port I don't use (I have a robot cleaner instead). It hooks up to a jandy valve along with the skimmer/drain pipes. The waterfall is also on a jandy valve with the return jets. I would like to pick up an additional pump dedicated to the waterfall, and run the intake from...

Closing Pool, Pool Covers, etc - in ARIZONA???

Oh man, I wish it were that easy. We have 3 very large ones surrounding the pool. Love it- except when they lose their leaves. LOL!

Closing Pool, Pool Covers, etc - in ARIZONA???

It would damage the surface even tho the cover is solid and UV can't get thru? The leaves will go right thru the mesh- they're pretty small... The Solar cleaner thing looks really cool. Lots of reviews with it breaking after a bit- but maybe they've fixed it by now? This might be a good...

Closing Pool, Pool Covers, etc - in ARIZONA???

Not tried it for this reason- but honestly, there's SOO MANY leaves that come down, I'd expect the socks to tear holes pretty quickly and get thru anyways. Yes, our neighborhood has a TON of very mature trees. Our backyard has them surrounding the entire property. The previous owner really...

Closing Pool, Pool Covers, etc - in ARIZONA???

I'm in AZ. We've never closed our pools for the winter. We have very large, mature Chinese Ash (or are they Chinese Elms?) trees surrounding our pool area. We love them, cutting them down now isn't an option. However, in the fall/winter, they lose all their leaves. The leaves are tiny, and I...

Why are LED Lights soo expensive?

Right- but they make arrays of LEDs confined within one bulb- so you can have 30+ leds in one, which GREAT surpasses that of traditional bulbs???

Why are LED Lights soo expensive?

I've been wondering if you can do that or not. If I DID want color changing- is there a cheaper option?

Why are LED Lights soo expensive?

I get it's newer technology, but LEDs are getting super cheap now. Any reason these are still a ridiculous price, other than manufacturers just taking advantage of the lag in the market? Just curious...
