    FC/CYA Chart Gone?

One more vote for bring back the chart. Was looking for the chart over the weekend to explain to my in-laws why their pool went cloudy and was quite surprised when the chart was nowhere to be found.

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

No argument here, I installed a generator last year, was just passing along the deal for people who guy liquid chlorine from Job Lot. Even if you want a few gallons for an opening SLAM and get your chlorine levels up for the year you can still save some money.

    Any experience with supplier, Zoro?

^ What DrewLG said. I use them frequently for work, prices are pretty good and with their sales can be downright unbeatable. I actually ordered a replacement pool pump motor from them before... Also, I've had to make a few returns and other customer service interactions and always had a...

    Ultimate Pool Tools Hyperpole

I really like this pole I bought from Lowes. The tubing is much sturdier than the standard telescoping ones and I like the locking pin mechanism. It's also not much more than the cheepo $20 units. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Aqua-EZ-2-piece-telescopic-16-ft-Aluminum-Pool-Pole/1000178657

What hardwood for salt pool deck

^Thirded, Ipe, Cumaru or Garapa. We have two decks I re-planked with Garapa and I just love it. Super dense, hard, smooth, strong and if you don't mind it eventually going grey color than no upkeep. Otherwise, clean and stain it every few years just for appearance. Stays much cooler on the feet...

    Polyaspartic pool deck (NoVA/DC)?

Maybe head over to the garagejournal forum and ask this same question in the flooring sub section? There are several experts on flooring coatings there that should be able to help. I'm interested in the answer also.

    Low Cya and high Fc

Also, as mentioned above, the pH test is not valid when FC is above 10. I would not adjust the pH until the fc drops below 10 and you get a true pH reading. A low pH is much more damaging to pools and equipment than high pH.

Salt levels and testing help needed

I've read before there can be discrepancy between the SWCG readout and drop test results and basically, as long as the SWCG is happy and producing chlorine then don't worry about the salt level too much. For reference, my salt test with the Taylor drop test reads 3400ppm, while my rj-60 reads...

    What's your robot's name?

Ours is Jacque after Jacque Cousteau and the grandparents is the Kraken. I don't think the kids have ever called them a "robot" it's always is Jacque running in the pool? Haha

    The TFP of lawns

If not garden web, was it " around the yard" forum? If so, The Lawn Forum spawned due to the some unhappy members and having followed both I can say that I 100% think The Lawn Forum is heaps and bounds better. Way more friendly and helpful members and a lot more traffic. But as mentioned above...

    Negative Edge Spillway Angle

Hmm interesting, tough to really decide, but I will take a stab at it. Looking at the left hand side where the negative edge ends, it is flush with the face of the stone face, however when you look at the right hand side where it ends, it appears as though the negative edge extends past the...

Don’t know where to start for pool renovation in Phoenix Arizona.

Can't help more than everyone has so far with equipment and specs, but I will make a simple suggestion to help your husband navigate the backyard without his sight. And that is to run wire for speakers through the yard that are spread out. Like the water feature he will be able to hear the...

Is this algae? Pool shop recommending algaecide and clarifier

Sorry to derail the thread, quick question. mihzyd777 I have never heard of salt increasing the pH of water before, I did a quick search and found results stating that salt does not affect pH, do you have an article or more information on this? Thanks, Bill

Pool in limbo-new liner, water delivered, then....nothing

Looking closely at your pictures, it looks like there is a gasket already installed on the pump basket, you can see the raised edges of the gasket in the first picture posted. You should be able to compress it with your finger / nail as it is rubber. Usually there is no need for liquid...

    Lawn care forums?

As mentioned already, definitely The Lawn Forum. They are to lawns what TFP is to pools. Well moderated, on topic, kind genuine members and mods make it a great place to hang out. Even if you are not super serious about turf there is a lot of information that can help you improve your current...

Leak or evaporation from cold weather?

With a 15' diameter pool, 1/4" of water loss is only 27.5 gallons of water in 24 hours, so definitely a small / slow leak. I actually had a small hole in our in ground vinyl liner pool this spring and was able to successfully (hopefully Murphy's law isn't listening) patch it with one of the...

Leak or evaporation from cold weather?

Hard to say, but I'm betting a small hole could lose 1/4" a day. What is the size of your pool? I quickly took a guess at your pool being 18ft in diameter for an example. If an 18ft diameter pool loses 1/4" of water, that is the equivalent of 5.3 cubic feet, there are 7.48 gallons in a cubic...

Pressure test - Is this okay?

I would say more than likely that is normal and fine. Both air and water expand and contract with temperature. More than likely it was warmer on Friday when the system was pressurized and the pressure has gone down to a reduction in temperature. Just keep an eye on it and so long as it...

brand new pump and filter slows down after 30 minutes

Just to check the obvious, you do not have a variable speed or two speed pump do you? Urgent help requested😱

    Spa Heater Working Correctly?

Not knowing the depth of your spa, it's hard to say, but you can do the math and calculate how long it will take to raise your water temperature. One BTU will raise one pound of water 1 degree F. So, you need 8.33 BTU's to raise one gallon of water one degree. If we estimate your spa to be 3'...

Discharge leak on threads new pump

I just looked up the Oatey, looks like it's good to use. Should be no problem on the motor housing, all pipe threads (NPT) are designed to be assembled with sealant and most likely will leak if assembled "dry". If they are designed to be "more" leak tight without sealant they are labeled NPTF...

Discharge leak on threads new pump

That looks like it is tapered pipe thread so you will need to use some sort of pipe thread sealant, either tape or paste. I would remove your fitting, clean and dry the assembly, apply the pipe thread sealant following instructions and re-install. That should take care of your leak. Pipe...

    Help users find Liquid Chlorine

Pressure Leak During New Pool Build

Hmm, okay, so you are saying they filled the lines with water up to 32psi or so and then you had some pressure loss after that? That makes it a little trickier to validate, as waters volume and therefor pressure also changes with temperature. However it changes less and I would assume the...

Pressure Leak During New Pool Build

As Jimmy said, they pressure in the pipes will change with temperature, also you can expect to see a drop in pressure right after the pipes are first filled with air. When the air is compressed in the compressor it is heated due to friction, once in the pipes it cools and will drop some...

Tired of opening to green pool-Do I have any options-Massachusetts

I agree with close late open early. I closed our pool end of September, middle of October last year and am opening this weekend. I have already looked under the cover and the water is as clear as can be expected with a 99% mesh blocking safety cover. Plenty of worms on the floor and some...
