Hayward skimmer and weir door with diffuser - and a mix of "is it working correctly?"

Also, it is not a weir diffuser. It is a skimmer diverter. (spellcheck!) A disc that sits in the bottom of the skimmer that slows the intake of water. It also has a lever that allows you to block all pull from the skimmer so that the pump is pulling only from the main drain in the pool. I...

Hayward skimmer and weir door with diffuser - and a mix of "is it working correctly?"

HI Jim and Thanks! So it sounds like my skimmer is a secret agent... hmmm. The changes I made to the eyeball outlets have definitely helped. Now to see about lowering the RPM's and see how it goes. I will try and get pics tomorrow... had storms through the last 24-36 hours. Quickly tho... I...

Hayward skimmer and weir door with diffuser - and a mix of "is it working correctly?"

Hi all. Ok. So, we have been in this house now nearly 2 years. First thing we did was replace the filter, pump, add a Polaris booster pump and sweep. I am currently working on improving the skimmer function. Today I redirected the output jets and seem to have pretty good swirl going now...

    Recommended GPM during SLAM?

Boy I wish I had a diagram to share. Our pool is situated NW to SE with 3 returns. One is in the N and doesn't seem to affect the surface it is focused slightly SW with skimmer slightly more south. One is E/SE and creates the bulk of the surface movement, it is aimed W and the skimmer...

    Recommended GPM during SLAM?

Is it possible that 3000 rpm is what it takes for my pool to skim effectively. Hhe pool 2 years and have always felt that the skim capability was really poor and possibly do to output nozzle configuration. Pool was backwashed today.. so filter is running clean currently.

    Recommended GPM during SLAM?

Hi! I am getting ready to SLAM... Ph is good and ready to hit with liquid shock. Is there a recommended GPM during SLAM? I know that the pump will be on 24/7 but didn't see any information on recommended water flow. Thanks!

Pump backwash this morning, flow slowly dwindling... help?

Not a spoiled sport at all. But thank you for your concern :) I used TFP and pool math without issue until this year when something changed and I couldn't figure out it if it was more debris, etc. For personal reasons I was flying north about every 4-5 weeks since January and I sense that my...

Pump backwash this morning, flow slowly dwindling... help?

Ah... so perhaps my expectations? Last year... the chlorine was so stable it was rare to need to add it. Maybe dropped 1 ppm in the course of a week or longer. Held the range.. for a couple weeks easily. Perhaps I was just spoiled last year. Also, and perhaps the other point being is that...

Pump backwash this morning, flow slowly dwindling... help?

Apologies... again.. see what happens when the pool doesn't have issues FOREVER and then... :( I added the FAS-DPD to the kit I purchased because it was the only thing missing, I knew it was the difference between good and variable info. Agreed with pool test scores.. so when phosphates were a...

Pump backwash this morning, flow slowly dwindling... help?

Per installer of pump one year ago, we completed back washing as needed and only disassembled to clean filter after one year. We installed the same filter that we had installed at our previous property. We have experience and success with this filter and pump. After cleaning the pump 4 weeks...

    What in the CYA???

Hi all, Please bear with me... I have been an inground pool owner for about a year now. It's been a tough year moving from north to south and then also trying to get a grip on owning a pool. I have been working at taking care of my pool 100% on my own, but have had issue, upon issue and just...

PH test purple, wait and see?

Hi everyone. We are new pool owners in San Antonio and took possession of pool right after the history hail storm etc. It took us a while to get a grip on it and ignore all of the chemicals that were left behind. I was able to get the pool balanced without need to adjust chlorine or...
