What is the difference between a 3/4 hp pool pump and a 3/4 hp booster pump?

Thanks for the links. It looks to me like the booster pump and the pool pump performance specs differ mainly in the head pressure - at the same gpm. The booster pump has a lower gpm "range" (about 9-13 gpm is the range for a cleaner), and the pool pump will easily supply the gpm requirement...

What is the difference between a 3/4 hp pool pump and a 3/4 hp booster pump?

I have a Pentair Kreepy Krauly Legend pressure side pool cleaner. The manual does not give pressure or flow requirements for the cleaner - just says to use a 3/4hp booster pump. I have a 3/4 hp Pentair Whisperflo pool pump available. Is there anything different (pressure or flow) between a...

Pentair INTELLIpH - how do you reset the fault history?

Thanks for the bump. I also posted on the Pentair site (under the IntellipH "questions section"). No one responded yet. I hope at least Pentair tech will respond. But if the faults can not be reset - its no big deal. at least it is working again.

Pentair INTELLIpH - how do you reset the fault history?

My IntellipH had a bad motor. I replaced it this weekend. Does anyone know how to clear the "fault history" (the XX Didn't Dose)? Is there a service mode (maybe entered by holding two buttons at the same time. etc..) that will allow me to reset the fault counter to zero?

Do I need to get all the Black Algae out? Can I go back to normal chlorine levels now and start swimming again?

I've been doing the SLAM for a week now. I have been scrubbing and keeping FC levels up to around 24ppm (CYA at 70) all week. I have reduced the amount of black Algae spots by 80 to 90% but it's not gone completely. Water is clear. Can I just go back to normal chlorine levels now (5 to 7 ppm)...

Black Algae - doing SLAM - questions

Thanks for the help. I'm testing with the Taylor 2006C kit. I did not lower pH (I thought I was supposed to be sure it was in the "normal range" before starting the SLAM). It is (was) around 7.6 when I started. Regarding liquid chlorine. I started with 9 gallons of bleach. That was all I had...

Black Algae - doing SLAM - questions

My pool is gunite/concrete (plaster). Do I need to scrub the spots until gone - or am I just trying to break the "waxy coating" so the Chlorine can kill it? - which would mean it would die and disappear sometime later. And it's not just one spot. These black spots are all over the pool. I'll see...

Black Algae - doing SLAM - questions

My pool has a lot of Black Algae. I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the pool chemistry, and now I have to deal with it. Usually I'll get some green algae in the summer months and its easy to brush away. I have been doing the SLAM (My FC is at 24 and CYA is 70). It's been three days now...

Brand new Polaris 360 leaks at hose's swivel point nuts

Would it be reasonable (economical) to just buy a one-piece hose of the proper length? Is there anything special about the Polaris hose? I have the 360 too, and it leaks at some of the connections, but I have not found it to be a problem.

my Polaris 360 goes to far corner of pool and gets stuck there - should I go Robotic?

My current cleaner, a Polaris 360, just goes straight across the pool from its wall connection to the far corner where it gets stuck in the corner of the pool wall and sun shelf. I've tried setting the water jet nozzle located on it's rear end at different angles and directions - but this...

IntelliChlor not displaying salt level in IntelliTouch

I spoke with Pentair today. They said my current cell (dated 7/30/2018) is not under warranty because it was installed when the original IC40 failed and the warranty starts on the date of the original purchase.. It doesn't start over with each replacement (that makes sense). So he suggested I...

IntelliChlor not displaying salt level in IntelliTouch

Pentair replaced the first cell under under warranty - would this new/replacement cell then be under warranty too? Meaning does the warranty period only cover the time from the original cell purchase - or does it start over with each replacement cell?

IntelliChlor not displaying salt level in IntelliTouch

I have a Salt Cell (IntelliChlor IC40) connected to a Pentair Acid dispenser (IntellipH). It used to display the salt reading correctly (i.e. like 3000) in the IntelliTouch display and IntellipH display, but now I just get a 0 salt level. So I removed the IntellipH and just connected...

Any tips or tricks in pulling old wire out of long run of buried conduit?

Hey Jimmy, are you guy that worked for Raritan Repair back in the 80s-90s? I can't imagine their being too many "Jimmythe Greek"s in NJ.

Replacing Pentair LED light... few questions

I started a post a few weeks ago asking if anyone made a fully-sealed pool light. Seems they don't. All my pool lights have failed over the years. They always seem to get water in them. Mine are all 120V lights. But from what I've read, it doesn't matter, 12 or 120V eventually it will get...

Who makes a fully sealed underwater pool light?

I looked a the Jandy lights and they have a gasket just like the SAM lights. I suppose no one makes a fully sealed light. These lights are expensive and it seems they all leak after a couple of years. Perhaps the manufactures want them to leak so they can sell more lights.

Who makes a fully sealed underwater pool light?

I've given up on my two color-changing SAM lights. They keep getting water inside and that ruins the color wheel motor and stains the lens. I have repaired and resealed it several times over the years - now I want to replace it with something that will not leak. My gunite pool has the standard...

Any tips or tricks in pulling old wire out of long run of buried conduit?

I like the idea of the hot water and soap. If that doesn't work I think I will need to dig up the pipe and cut it. Then I can pull the new cable and use a coupler on the pvc conduit. One problem - I tried to locate the pvc conduit and I cant seem to find it. I have a photo of the piping during...

Any tips or tricks in pulling old wire out of long run of buried conduit?

There is no pull wire in the conduit - it was used to pull the spa controller wire through when I first installed it (I should have pulled a new "nylon pull string" along with the spa cable, but I didn't). Now it's ten years later... The spa wire (as I recall) is 4 or 6 strands of 22 ga wire in...

Any tips or tricks in pulling old wire out of long run of buried conduit?

I have a raised spa on my pool with a 4 button spa control. The spa control is hardwired to my pool controller about 100 to 125 feet away. The wiring runs through buried 3/4" conduit and has been in the ground for 10 years now. I tried to pull the old wire out (planning to tie a "pull string" to...

Anyone have both a gas heater and a heat pump?

I had a heat pump and gas heater on my pool. The heat pump was to keep the pool water warm and the gas was for quick heating of the spa. The heat pump (RayPac) worked well, although I really didn't need to heat the water as much as I needed to cool it and my heat pump did not have a cool mode...

Broken flange on waterfall fixture - what glue should I use to repair?

You mean that flexible hose section? I'm not sure how long that section is or where the other end is located. I think the waterfall flange broke because the paver deck above settled putting to much pressure on that 45 fitting. I was planning to firmly pack the soil below the plumbing before...
