Finding a pool cover for my odd pool

For several years I had someone open and close my pool. Last year on closing they told me that "it was time" to get a new and better cover. One anchored into the concrete. So I tossed my pool cover when I opened the pool myself this year. Now I'm looking for a new cover but really can't find...

    Very low filter pressures

Thanks for the info. I just called a local pool company to come out for some "troubleshooting". Hopefully I can dig under the concrete if need be. There isn't much dirt on top especially now since I've cleared most of the area around the pad.

Yea I've been trying to figure out this pool for a few years now. It looks like it's a legit in-ground pool. It seems like there are concrete walls and I think a concrete floor. no main drain. There's a liner in there. Concrete pad around the top. It's around 30 years old so I am in the middle...

    Very low filter pressures

I just watched a video that claimed that unions needed to have teflon tape applied to them. None of mine do. Is that normal? I thought since there were o-rings that it wasn't necessary.

All the white is hard piping (I did that). The black is 1.5" irrigation hose or something similar. Do people not use that? The filter and motor are sitting on a concrete pad. It's just in the corner where all the leaves blow and I haven't cleaned it out yet. If I'm just using the skimmer...

Hmm. There is no valve. So maybe I should put one in?

I bought lube at the store and will try it. I pulled the gasket out and cleaned everything with a plastic brush and then wiped both the cover and the gasket off to clear any debris. It seemed fine. No rips. The pump basket being full: When I opened the pool this year I filled the bump basket...

I'm literally having the same issue. I bought a new 1 piece hose and still had some issues with vacuum. Still not great. hopefully someone who knows better can chime in.

Some advice needed on a pool leak.

This is truly embarrassing (pic) . I am in the middle of digging up all the old gravel around the pool, cleaning up the weeds and putting down river rock as a temporary solution before a true renovation can take place.

OK thanks for the confirmation. I don't want to go digging a million holes.

Some advice needed on a pool leak.

I have a small hexagonal pool with 2 returns and no main drain. The closest return does show air bubbles when the pump is on. The far return does not. For the past several years I've noticed that the pool loses water with the pump on. I replaced both the pump and filter last year with brand...

A little all over the place. FC is zero and alkalinity is 230ppm

Thanks everyone for their help. I think my pool is perfect now and it's stable and predictable. FC - 4.5 CC - 0 TA - 130 CYA - 40 And I'm just trying to figure out my FC loss per day. It seems probably around 2ppm. I tried the TFP app pool math calculator on my phone. No dice. It locks up...

A little all over the place. FC is zero and alkalinity is 230ppm

Got it thanks. So I'll just test every day and I'll eventually just figure out what my average daily dose should be. On days that I'm away I'll have a neighbor put in my average dose. Does anything change if the pool gets heavy use? I have family coming over in 3 weeks and the kids love to...

A little all over the place. FC is zero and alkalinity is 230ppm

I'm feeling much more confident about my water now. So just now I tested and got these numbers FC - 14.5 CC - 0 Alkalinity - 130 or 140 (I wasn't paying attention but it seems it is coming down after I put in the acid 3 days ago) So it looks like my chlorine levels are coming down in the sun...

With the 16 month old I didn't have time to test pH and TA..but I'll be doing that tonight once she's sleeping. Great. I noticed that pH tends to always rise to about 7.5 or 7.6 and I think perhaps it's because of the TA.

Ok so this morning I tested the chlorine FC - 18 CC - 0 CYA - 38 Is it possible that the OCLT shows close to zero loss? Am I done with the Shock portion of the SLAM? Now I just let the chlorine levels come back down and maintain the FC at around 5ppm? I have a 16 month old baby. My wife wants...

Today (Monday) at 4PM my readings were FC - 2.5 CC - 0.5 pH - 7.6 TA - 170 CYA - 38 I added liquid chlorine per pool calculator and a bit of muriatic acid. And I just went to test the pool again at 8PM (4 hours later) FC - 18 CC - 0 So It's 2 out of 3 SLAM criteria. I'll test in the morning...

My water seems crystal clear...but I see your point about the decreased FC. I'll OCLT it tonight just for fun but try and stay at shock levels til I pass all 3 criteria. Thanks everyone.

I think I was shooting for 12 or 14ppm. At the time I left my cya wasn't at 38 yet but I had left some stabilizer to dissolve. I was thinking it would dissolve over the weekend and I'd be close to ideal shock levels.

Could I get some opinions? I feel like I'm on the right track now but want to confirm a few things. I had to go away for the weekend and here were the measurements before I left at 8AM on Saturday FC - 9.5 CC - 0.5 pH - 7.5 TA - 180 CYA - 30 Before I left I added 30oz of 12.5% liquid chlorine...

You can get it at a hobby store or a crafts store. I got mine from a watch I just bought and the foam came in the shipping box. I cut it with an electric knife. You are better off with more rigid foam because some of the edges will need to be very thin...more flexible foam will be too flimsy...
