Duda Diesel Bag collecting more debris than new Pleatco Cartridge

Impeccable. I just unboxed it this season. Ill take a photo of it when i rinse it out in the fall..lol... I usually only rinse it two or three times a year. A month after startup, mid-season, and when I close the pool

    Wiring questions

I'm not technically an electrician but I am in the electrical and solar trades and I'm very familiar with residential commercial wiring and NEC code. 20 amp 12/2 sounds good for a 1.5hp pump motor. I have a different Hayward cartridge filter setup with the 1.5 horsepower motor. No SWG. I...

    On the right track?

Looks like you're doing the process good by ordering the new filtration cartridge, The Duda diesel bag, and using the skimmer socks. One little note however. When the skimmer socks load up with debris on suction side. The pressure on the gauge does not go, up it actually goes down because it's...

    Another Green Monster

You don't have to drain the whole pool you can clear this. Verify the CYA and hold the SLAM with liquid chlorine. Drag the floor with the leaf net blind if you have to make multiple passes. Get that debris out of there on the bottom of the floor because that's what's going to eat up your...

Pool green after multiple shock treatments, please help.

FC: 0.3 TC: 0.6 CC: 0.3 PH: 8.2 HARDNESS: 176 ALK: 123 CYA: 48 COPPER: 0 IRON: 0.3 PHOS: 127 These numbers look like pool store numbers to me. Unreliable. Order the TF-100 or the K-2006 test kit. Read Pool School and understand what a shock or SLAM really is. If your cya levels are truly at 50...

    My green monster

Oh Rammy you are close just looking at that water, you are 1 step away, literally and metaphorically in the process. You just need to filter out the rest of the cloudiness and keep up the SLAM

Yeah my ladder spot is darker blue than the rest of the pool too.

Pool cover let me down over the winter....now green water!

You are doing everything just right. Just keep maintaing the SLAM, filter good, and backwash or rinse when 20 to 25% over clean startup operating pressure. You are at aqua green you will be a cloudy blue in no time

Used filter / pump - Is this a good deal?

A friend of mine has this particular filter and DE filter canister housing and pipe cracked over the winter since they left water in it. I'm actually looking for a replacement. I found the canister on eBay for $ 157 and a canister itself new goes for about 200 to 250. Their pool is currently...

    Sock Liners in Skimmer Problem

Try placing the skimmer sock inside the basket and pulling the end of the skimmer sock over and under the bottom side on the outside of the basket, then seat the basket. My particular basket will pop up if you don't lock it into place

Duda Diesel Bag collecting more debris than new Pleatco Cartridge

Ok everyone who knows me here knows that I highly advocate the triple filtration method with skimmer socks my cartridge filter and a Duda Diesel bag on the return jet at 5 or 1 micron. I have a debris problem on a daily basis since I live next to the woods with a lot of pollen. I'm not having...

    Done Slamming what is next?

As long as you have passed the SLAM, OCLT good. CC good 0.5 or less and the water is clear, since you have a SWG. Raise the CYA to 70ppm as per the CYA chart and maintain FC target of 5ppm as indicated in this chart. According to this chart because you are SWG, you can probably remain algae free...

Care to try the fine micron bag on the return jet trick before you attempt to partially drain? Would hate to see the CYA go out of whack again, and some of that wonderful bleach you have stocked up on go to waste. The DE should be clearing the water up at 5 micron. I know your pool is much...

    Help please :)

If your CC is above 0.5 ppm SLAM it anyways until CC passes, and patches of algae get neutralized and filtered out. CC and OCLT, including your visuals of water quality is usually used as a numbers gauge if your water chemistry is running away from you with contaminants.

    My green monster

CajunGuy. I used to use Leslie's UltraBright for cloudy water. Although it is good stuff as far as polymers, I have heard from TFP pool owners that it does gunk up your sand filter, which requires more than just backwashing, and requires deep cleaning of sand. I stopped using ultra bright...

Go with the DE option or Fiber Clear over the clairifier. You dont want to gunk up your sand. Me personally?... I prefer to mechanically filter out finely suspended particles, cloudy water, or dead algae that my cartridge filter doesnt grab, with the aid of skimmer socks and a duda diesel 5...

opening pool and the water is black - HELP

Please use liquid chlorine or bleach only to "shock" the pool to SLAM or shock levels. Shock is not a product nor is it chlorine granules. Shocking a pool is raising and heightening the free chlorine levels in ratio with your CYA. Below in my signature is a link for chlorine to cya ratios. Your...

    Is there a bleach shortage?

Yeah I've been noticing that the bleach disappears right around the beginning of May on all the store shelves so I typically load up 10-12 gallons at a time to get me into July/August.

    Need Algae removal advice

Maintain the SLAM level FC until the water is crystal clear. Otherwise the algae may dominance again. Brush and vacuum. Skimmer socks or hairnet in your skimmer basket may help you get some of the dead algae out before it hits the filter. Clearing the last phase of cloudy blue with white dead...

    On the right track?

MKNAUSS. Those 4 extra ppm's on a SLAM. I agree it can be a waste of chlorine in theory and practice. But I was wondering can the loss be comparatively measured and sustained in water tests where the extra ppm of FC was poured in at nightfall with no UV exposure, then measured again before...
  27. R

    On the right track?

Other than losing the FC for your CYA ratio, it never hurts to over chlorinate by 4-5ppm. In other words if your cya is 30 and your shock level or SLAM is 12 PPM. Then shooting for 16 or 20ppm FC nothing wrong with that, but because your CYA is 30 you will lose that 6 FC fairly quick if algae or...

    On the right track?

CYA of 30 is a perfect baseline to SLAM at FC 12ppm. However because algae, organics and sun uv consume chlorine at a rapid pace, i am wondering just how much sun from the course of a day is eating up your chlorine along with the algae? What time does the sun hit your pool from am to pm? You...

    First time slammer, checking in

Exactly what BATTLEOFYAKIMA said. You can throttle back both your intake and return ball valve 1/8th to 1/4 of a turn to slow down the water suction and pressure to vacuum slower. In other words say your startup clean operating pressure is 10 psi for example. If I throttle back just intake ball...

    Algaecide? Yay or Nay?

Richard320 i like your logic and reasoning even if they are "what if" scenarios. I was hesitant for 2 years to buy the k-2006 kit cause it was $70 and relied off my HTH 6-way testing kit with the OTO. I got by with it just fine and it told me everything I needed to know what the exception of...
