Hi,

I'm done with the slam process, what should be next, should I check all the chemicals in the pool and balance them accordingly or should I leave the CYA at 40 as it was when I was doing the SLAM?

As long as you have passed the SLAM, OCLT good. CC good 0.5 or less and the water is clear, since you have a SWG. Raise the CYA to 70ppm as per the CYA chart and maintain FC target of 5ppm as indicated in this chart. According to this chart because you are SWG, you can probably remain algae free at a minimum FC level of 3ppm

Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart

Allow FC to drift down below 10ppm then adjust TA and PH if necessary. You always want your FC to be below 10 PPM before you adjust your pH because anything above FC 10ppm raises pH and gives a false reading. Borax for pH up and baking soda for TA up. Muratic Acid to lower pH and TA. CH is irrelevant since you have a Vinyl liner.

Use pool math to determine next action as far as quantities.

Thanks, do I need to shock every week or just maintain the Chlorine level to the chart level?

Follow [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. Every day.

TFP does not 'shock' a pool. We maintain it.

Take care.

Maintain chlorine according to chart. Drop the phrase “weekly shock” from your vocabulary and your memory banks!

Here’s a look at regular testing and maintenance:
