Sock Liners in Skimmer Problem

So, after reading all the benefits on using liners in the skimmer baskets, I decided to try them. For reference, I bought these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS63TWJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I received them this evening and installed them at around 5pm. When my pump shut off at 8pm, the back pressure shoved the skimmer baskets out of their receptacles.

My filter is clean, operating at 14PSI, so no issue there. I thoroughly cleaned my skimmer baskets before installing these. I have the socks correctly installed on the INSIDE of the baskets. What in the world could be wrong? Is there any way to solve this problem? Or maybe skimmer socks are just "not for my pool?"

Thanks,
Kelly

PS... The socks themselves had NOTHING accumulated on them.

I thought skimmer baskets were purposely designed to float when the pump is off. It prevents floating debris in the basket from re-entering the pool over the top of the basket and around the weir door.

Just a thought.... did the basket float, or did it get pushed? If you are sucking air somehow, you'll end up with a big bubble of compressed air in the filter -- whatever pressure the gauge shows, whi9ch could be almost as much as a car tire! So when the filter shuts off, the air expands and it blows backwards through the plumbing, lifting the basket. Today after the pump's been on a while, crack the air bleed and see if air hisses out or if its nothing but water. If air, try again in a couple hours and see if it built up again.

I realize these are great to keep stuff out of your filter but I fail to see the point of having a filter if you are going to filter everything before it gets there. If anything is small enough to fit through my basket's holes, it is welcome to go to the filter and I will clean it when I clean the cartridges 2-3 times/season.

So, a small rock seems to keep the baskets from popping out when pump shuts off, yay.

The neighbors yard has dogwoods. When their flower buds get in the skimmers, by the time they are water logged enough to get sucked to the bottom, it's annoying to clean the skimmers out. So that's the main reason for trying the socks this year - easier skimmer clean out!
