Unfortunately there is no universal setting. Each pool behaves differently. You will have to get some testing going to see how things are. I run my pool for 10 hours a day at 50%. It keeps my pool at desired FC with CYA at 70 in the Houston sun.

I have had dead snakes and frogs in the pool. But usually like Dirk, they are found within a day or two. I have simply removed them and went on my way. FC/CC testing have always been fine.
