No it doesn't. Line of sight just means ideal situation. It'll be fine. Mine is not line of sight and is going through multiple walls.

    easy question about my numbers.

If your CYA is really 70, then I think you FC is a bit low. I know min recommended for salt water is 3, but I prefer to run mine on the higher end of the recommended range. I keep mine around 6-7 most of the time. If i have people coming, I might even bump it up another point. I would just...

HELP- New owner, I must be doing something wrong

You'll probably hear this a lot on this forum, so I'll just get to it: If your intent is to care for this poor yourself, you will need to order a proper test kit. Test Kit Strips are very inconsistent and won't give you enough information to see what's going on. Second - Try not to visit the...

Pentagram Intelliflow VS RPM and time settings

1700rpm for 10 hours split between 6am-3pm and 8pm-10pm. The reason for the evening run is we swim most nights and to try and help cool the pool by circulating in cooler temps. There is no reason to run the pump that hard for that long.

    Shock creating sediment

CC at 1.5 is high. The general consensus here is that if CC is above .5, you’ve got something brewing. You may want to consider stop using pucks and just liquid chlorine. Those pucks will keep raising your CYA, leading to the need for higher and higher chlorine needs. You may want to check...

Minimum FC vs Target FC - Chlorine/CYA Chart confusion

The idea is that you should never let FC below the minimum number and always aim to keep the number between the recommended range. If you test and the number is above recommended then do nothing. If below, then add. I don’t like my number anywhere close to the minimum. I prefer to be on the...

    Newly installed SWG - questions

    1) bubble seems normal. I have it with my Pentair. 2) From what I have read here, the SWG should turn off when pump is off. Leaving it on with no flow is not a good idea.

    Hayward setting? What percent.

Unfortunately there is no universal setting. Each pool behaves differently. You will have to get some testing going to see how things are. I run my pool for 10 hours a day at 50%. It keeps my pool at desired FC with CYA at 70 in the Houston sun.

    It's going down for real....

It’s been 6 months or so since pool complete and almost a year since we stared the build. Thanks to TFP, the pool water is freaking awesome. Yes there is water there!

I am having a hard time...

I do have skimmer sock. It's more just I can't stand the grass in the pool. It's funny/sad. I skim it, looks good... walk away, more grass. Then I have to go skim again. My wife says to me, you KNOW it's going to do that for a couple of hours, why not just leave it be then skim it. But...

    Pool Analysis

Drew, ouch! I run my pump 10 hours a day. I just looked an my smart meter logs. It looks like it's on average it's up rougly 200kwh per month. At the electric rate I pay, that's under $20 a month more. Order the TF-100 kit here: TF-100 Test Kit â„¢ Do it today, you'll get it next week...

I am having a hard time...

I probably have slight ocd. Maybe not clinical but you know I am sort of anal about certain things. The good news for me is testing the pool each day and cleaning it etc is good for it. I know what the pool condition is and I like it. I don’t find the daily testing or skimming a problem...

    Pool Analysis

Drew, I am no expert, but I think the main problems with pucks is that many of them will add a lot of CYA. Problem with that is when CYA gets high, the only way to get rid of it is to dump water. High CYA means you will need super high FC levels to get things to work. My suggestion is to buy...

    Pool Analysis

For test kit: TF-100 Test Kit â„¢ Also you said you can't read chlorine on your test... how are you chlorinating your pool? I see you have an Ozone system, is that the only way you are sanitizing your pool? I am no expert, but if I recall riding right, most here don't think that works.

    Pentair IC 40 or 60

Buy the biggest one you can. Gives you flexibility in how long you run the pump.

    She likes high pH

jblizzle - fill water has a TA of 240 and pH of 8. I didn't actually think about that... not sure why, but now that you asked and I checked my original test record, duh, that and the new plaster, SWG would all contribute. The pool TA is currently 80. Part of trying to drive down the pH for me...

    She likes high pH

So the pool has been done for about six months now. Everything has been good. Tests are good. But I noticed two observations. 1) The pool seems to want to settle around 8 for pH. I know new plaster will drive pH up. But no matter how aggressively I drop the pH, within a few days it comes...

    Excessive Chlorine Demand

Are you testing your own water or is the cya from the pool store? You didn’t mention what your FC levels were. Why do you feel like this using excessive chlorine?

    My pool likes high pH

I actually don't run my wall that much, 10 minutes a week to cycle the water through (maybe I should run it more often?). I suspect since the pool is new, I am still getting the new plaster effect.

    My pool likes high pH

Ok, so it doesn't sound too far off. If I take it down to 7.6 or so, it'll slowly creep back up to 7.8-8 over about a week's time. I am going away for about 10 days... not worried about FC or the like, but didn't want to pH to stay too high. I'll take it down to 7.2, try and kill two birds...

    My pool likes high pH

So for the past 4 months or so I have been TFP'ing it. Everything is good. Only thing that comes to mind is that my pool seems to want to settle on a relatively high pH or 7.8-8.0. TA is at 70. So, any concerns about staying at 8.0? thx. -S

Found dead critter in pool skimmer... do I need to shock it???

I have had dead snakes and frogs in the pool. But usually like Dirk, they are found within a day or two. I have simply removed them and went on my way. FC/CC testing have always been fine.

    stuff on pool surface...

So, the surface of the water looks like it's got dandelion seeds all over it. I have skimmed the surface twice today, but I am losing the fight! I guess this is the join of spring time. I don't think my net is fine enough... What's the finest mesh net that's available out there? Any other...

    Is it time?

I have been testing more frequently now that the temp is warming up. Over the winter, FC is pretty stable. Now that the temp has warmed up, I was running it at 40% for 8 hours and I was “losing” about 1ppm during a sunny day. Where I am, it’s windy so there’s a lot of stuff that gets blown...
