I am getting ready to install me new Pentair screen logic wireless interface and I have a question. That is does it really have to be line of sight between both receivers? it is less than 50 feet between the 2.

I don't think it has to be line of sight as it can transmit through walls, but the less it has to go through the better.
My manual says within 150 feet, so you would think it would be pretty good reception at 50 feet even going though a wall.

No it doesn't. Line of sight just means ideal situation. It'll be fine. Mine is not line of sight and is going through multiple walls.
I had mine going about 150ft, through 2 sets of walls (one exterior concrete and one interior drywall). Initially it worked well, but then I began having connection issues and slow or no response form the apps.
Ended up moving the base unit to my shed where I have a network switch, which is about 30-40 feet from the equipment pad. Been running flawless since.
