So, I have been lurking here for a while and just completed my DIY SWCG install last weekend, Just wanted you guys to check my work, inspired by threads from @MyAZPool. Pentair Intellicenter i5p installed with ic40 SWCG. I wired the SWCG on it's own relay but tied to the pump relay so it will not power on without the pump and created a circuit group. Removing the old panel was a pain involving new stucco, but installation of the new one was a breeze. I left myself with plumbing options for an automatic pool filler and plan on adding a heat pump in the near future. Went from a perfectly balanced pool and added 160 lbs of salt to bring it to 3600ppm, tested today and all is well. I still need to cut out the old ball valves and replace with a Jandy for the intake because I have an air leak, but other than that... pool heater.

Still trying to figure out how to "plumb" the wireless Ethernet cable to the transmitter, and I have a bit of tidying up to do, but it was actually a lot of fun...

Just interested in any comments... hope the attached pics help. Thanks to all and Merry Christmas!

Your pump 20A 240V CB should be GFCI.

Does the second relay from the top left control the lights? If so it's 120V CB should be GFCI if you have 120V lights. Or wire the 120V lights through the LOAD side of your GFCI outlet.

I assume you got the IntelliCenter bundle that included the High Power Wireless Link? If so the following thread might give you some pointers.

I also see that you use HA, if you're feeling adventurous there's an integration for nodejs-PoolController that you can use.

From one CWO to another, thanks much for sharing.
@ajw22 is right. I recommend that you take his advice on replacing those breakers that he mentioned with GFCI breakers.

- From the -10 :p
1. Be sure to follow all manufacturer’s circuit breaker rating requirements. Some pool equipment require connection to ground fault circuit breakers (GFCI).
2. Line-voltage circuit breakers utilized in the IntelliCenter Control System should only be the approved and recommended circuit breakers that are specified in the IntelliCenter Automation System for Pool and Spa Installation Guide.

Have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 🎄

@MyAZPool ,

I knew there was something wrong with you, but couldn't put my finger on it... until now. :poke:

Agreed, I was unsure about the GFCI breaker because there was never one there in the original panel. I have since replaced that breaker with a ground fault one.

The second relay is indeed for the pool light, it runs out to the secondary panel (lower right) which is low voltage 12VDC to the light.

Yes, I have the HPWL, it is just sitting on top of the panel box for now. I was toying with the idea of mounting the transmitter card inside the panel because the receiver just on the other side of the wall where the panel is mounted.

HA integration was taken care of last weekend... I love it and very easy to set up.

Thanks!
Ed

Ft Rucker AH-1 track 1989-90... My dad always told me the only reason there were fixed wing pilots was because some just are not coordinated enough to fly helicopters (and he was a FW guy) but, they do go really really fast...
Happy New Year guys!!!

How funny... My dad too. Brown shoe in the Navy. Last assignment on the U.S.S. Lexington (CV-16). For me - WORWAC Class 83-9 Utility Track. Only 6 months in slicks and then right back to mother Rucker (the promised land ;) ), for the 60 transition.
Happy New Year bro...

So, the last day of the year I spent trying to tidy up my panel installation and install a Jandy valve to get rid of the ball valves from the skimmer and the main drain.... then I thought to myself... why are you doing all this on the last Saturday of the year, on your day off! So I just finished up the high speed transmitter install, started on my auto pool fill plumbing... and cracked open a beer. I still have a lot of clean up to do, but I'll get to it next year

Cheers, and Happy New Year all!!
