Pool pump relays.

I have a friend that has a dumb pool system with mechanical timers and switches to operate his pool pumps.
I’m a bit of a home automation geek and was telling him I could set up his pumps on an automated system fairly easy by using a zwave relay to drive a dry contact that can control his pump ( and set up the logic ) for freeze control.
Does anyone know if the control voltage for zodiac pump relays are line voltage or if they are 24v?
R0658100 as an example. These plug into the board for control. I can’t imagine they are line vintage control. No?

Appreciate that. I actually called intermatic ( the people who make the Zodiak relays ) the tech said they were line voltage which made no sense to me.

Out of curiousity. On my Aqualink, when you shut the pool pr spa pump off the pump remains on for several minutes till the heat is dissipated. How do they do that when there is only switches and timers?
I should have taken a closer look at his pool equipment.

Cheers

The T101 or 104 timers can have an optional 156T4042A Heater Control Switch Kit that will open the fireman's switch on the heater 20 minutes before the timer, usually controlling the filter pump, will shut off. The heater control will prevent the heater from operating EXCEPT when the Time Switch contacts are closed (automatically or manually).

Models that have the 24-Hour Mechanical Time Switch in Enclosure with Pool Heater Protection are:
  • T101P201 - 120V SPST plastic enclosure with Pool Heater Protection
  • T101R201 - 120V SPST metal enclosure with Pool Heater Protection
  • T104P201 - 240V DPST plastic enclosure with Pool Heater Protection
  • T104R201 - 240V DPST metal enclosure with Pool Heater Protection
The 156T4042A Heater Control Switch Kit can be added to any existing T101 or T104 timer.

All of the newer relays used by Jandy, Hayward, Pentair are nominally 24vdc and are completely interchangeable. The one marketed for Hayward is half the price of the one that has Jandy on it on Amazon. Or look up this, by Omron, the company that likely makes them for all the companies mentioned (about $25.00) . The Omron brand was available at wholesale until the big three said they would pull their product if the wholesalers continued to offer them.

The manufacturers all use the same relay, which is a 24 volt DC relay, but you can use whatever coil voltage you want.

Below are a 24 volt DC relay and a 24 volt AC relay.
