I am backwashing a significant amount of time and rinsing. It all looks clear until I begin to filter again and it spits dirt out. Not sand. It’s Brand new filter. Intex 2100
I also cannot figure out how much salt I need for my pool.
22x12x48 oval 6,021 gallons

I've seen filters sometimes trap dirt in areas that seems to break loose when switching things I.E. backwash to rinse, to filter etc.
If you only see it for a few seconds after going back to filter I wouldn't worry about it. It does suck, seeing that blow into your pool, but overall it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Sand filters do not necessarily trap everything, quite a bit of fine stuff gets past the sand but over time they tend to trap enough to keep pool water more than clear enough. I think some of what gets by may lay in the return hose until you disturb the flow some how, and then it gets blown out.

But also keep in mind, a sand filter actually traps finer and finer material the dirtier it gets. This is assuming the pump is strong enough to cope with the extra backpressure.

How dirty was the pool when you started that you need to backwash so much (any pics)? What type of media did you add to your sand filter (do you have a pic of the bag that you poured in there)? When you added the sand did you use the sand shield that prevents the sand from getting inside the center pipe? How much sand did you add (there are three marks on the intex 2800 gal pmp filter center pipe)?
