Disco Pool

Got the TF Pro Salt with Speed Stir. It’s in the Signature now.
Btw Kim, I’m also an educator. Sped Teacher for high school students here and currently teaching summer school. Will be teaching more summer schools to completely pay off this pool :)

Sped Teacher=a halo! High school teacher = another halo! a Sped High school teacher =the BIGGEST, Shiniest Halo to be found!!! Bless you!

Test your fill water and let us know the results. Do not bother testing the CYA as it has to be added so no need to waste the regents for that test just yet.

That’s one of my To-Do lists today aside from the other honey-dos. I’ll add my equipment pad light after the inspection so I won’t mess up anything.

All Teachers = Halo period!

Here’s my water fill readings. Mind you, we have a water treatment in our garage due to Discovery Bay water being hard. In fact, even with the water purifier, we still have a lot of calcium build up everywhere.
Chlorine = 0
pH = 8.2
FC = clear
CC = R003 to follow (out of stock)
TC = pending till CC
TA = 500
CH = 450
CYA = 0 (was wondering if this made you react, no I didn’t test for this ;)

That’s it for now. So, what does this mean? Thanks a lot!

Actually, the Chlorine result changed after some minutes on the comparator. Now it’s .5.

FC=call it when it turns clear then don't worry about it again. It does turn pink if you let it sit.

LOL on the CYA

Your TA is HIGH!!! We can fix it but you will need quite a bit of muriatic acid and a GOOD way to aerate the water like turning the returns up so they roll the water good. I will also say TA is the last thing we worry about so no big worries.

Kim,

Happy 4th of July! Can’t believe you still respond even on a holiday like this! I went out to get some groceries earlier and it so nice to see people wearing red, white, and blue colors plus smile on their faces. This holiday is very much appreciated. This was also the day Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors and broke NBA. I digressed, Thank you sooo much!

I’m wondering if I should turn off our water purifier and see what happens when I test it again.

Btw, I remember that one of the instructions of the PB is to fill spa first and let it overflow only to read from NPT to exactly not do that. I will use two hoses and fill both at the same time. I will move the spa hose to the pool once it’s filled so it won’t have to overflow.

With apologies in advance if I misunderstood your testing objective….

Where will you be pulling your fill water? From an outside hose bib (generally plumbed before any house filtration or water softener) or an indoor tap? ( after the purifier) Is the purifier you refer to a water softener? If so, be aware that filling a pool with softened water will deplete the softener very quickly as they generally only have ability to deliver 700-800 gallons at a time before they need to recharge. I’ll let others comment on the effect on CH of softened water.

Fill with non softened water(tap) as they're not designed to fill pools and refill water due to evaporation or otherwise shall be through the water softener. You only lose CH through backwash, splash out and drain off from excessive rain so if you keep filling from the unsoftened tap the CH will eventually get high.

No apologies needed, Stevo.
My testing objectives are:
1. Familiarization to water testing and use of Pool Math
2. Prepare for pool start up.

Yes, I’ll be pulling water from two outside hose bibs. I’m just not sure if they’re connected to the water softener. You might be right, they’re probably aren’t. Maybe that’s the reason I got 450 CH.

Wire, with that being said, I’m not using softened water then.

Thanks for looking out and glad to meet you all!

LOL I get on the boards when I can. It is not as often as I would like but it is all good!

Smart of you to NOT listen to anyone saying to let the spa overflow into to the pool on fill :roll: Really? How about the big streak that could cause in the new plaster??? You plan is a good one.

The others have you set up on the fill water.

Lol. It is what it is. I thought the trim tiles by the bench are installed together with the pebbles, guess I’m wrong. In any case, this should allow me to do a startup better once they plaster. I hope it happens next week. We don’t have much time before the school year starts again. I can’t even find the courage to drop by Target, they already have school supplies out waiting to greet you!

Wire and Kim, I was thinking about that. From what I’ve read, I got you all to guide me the whole balancing process. I’ll reread the ABC of pool again and again until I can get to the end. It usually makes me fall asleep after a while :).
Me too... so start in the middle and work you way out to the ends. Actually read it like a reference.. if you try to read like a novel or lit,... you'll pass out for sure... I mean there is not a lot of denouement there. ;)

I went to Safeway to buy some chips for my students attending summer school. Lo and behold, they have some summer patio furnitures. I had sleepless night looking at the cheapest but good quality ones online so I told myself it won’t hurt to check it out. I pulled one out of the top of the freezer even though it said ask associates for help. I tested the lounger, there’s no price tag so I looked online to see how much it is. Suddenly the manager and an associate were asking me if everything’s ok which is code for get off if you’re not buying. I’m curious so I asked for the price. It’s $127. Meh. It says plus 25% discount. Interesting. Manager voluntarily said she’ll give me 50%. I bought two, $65 for each. I remember @mknauss saying he got some sling chairs for cheap from Walmart or somewhere and he’s still using them after more than 3 years. So I plunged and bought them plus another 50% for a 3 piece set of combination wicker/aluminum high chair with table. $214 total for 5 piece of patio furnitures and a good story to tell. Not bad.

We’ll be plastered this Monday and acid wash the day after! The trim tile looks dark green and I have this feeling that it can contribute to the Blue Smurf having a sheen of green. I think
It’ll be great though. It’ll give different hues for different times of the day. Looking forward to it. Got ourselves some lights (solar and tiki lights, lamps) 11’ umbrella which I fear might be quite tall so we’ll see if I have to return it. Of course I got those Tanglefoot sticky trapper solutions you discussed in other threads, still had to get a small bug zapper. Last, some plastic and insulated drinking cups for both kids and adults. We are ready! Thank you for being part of this process. I know I’ll continue to spy on you guys even after the pool is done. Looking forward to seeing you at 10 AM pst for your talk today!
