    Pool Tenting

Ok, this stuff sounds AWESOME! I have three girls. If i can get this in other colors, they would think its the bomb! Does it stain hair, skin, or nails? How long does it last in the pool? How do you get rid of it?

    Pool Rebuild Disaster?

I already know that all the metal mesh they used to patch cracks needs to be removed. They spread mortar over the mesh, but it hardly penetrated the mesh at all and barely has any contact with the gunnite underneath. Can't imagine those patches staying in place for very long, with or without...

    Pool Tenting

Question, what is the purpose of tenting a pool during construction, and at what stages of construction is it usually necessary?

    Pool Rebuild Disaster?

The surrounding soil is pretty darned wet for at least half of the year here in Washington, so the gunnite and rebar and what not are getting exposed to water from the outside too - presuming that the outside of the pool wasn't plastered or something :) An important point, I think, is that the...

    Pool Rebuild Disaster?

no kidding. when i look at it now, i do think waterline tile would look cool, but it really makes me question plaster. the previous plaster was almost the color of gunnite anyway. and we planned to change it to something a little bluer, but still pretty dark. why cover the gunnite with such a...

    Pool Rebuild Disaster?

lawyer is totally aware. saw no problem with it. it’s still my pool. just needed to photograph everything possible before filling. paid 1/2 upfront. $46,000. their work isn’t remotely close to 50% complete right now. moreover, sounds like it is going to be about $150k to have someone else...

You can very easily see areas that are amber as well as areas that are dark brown from this mesh beginning to rust.

Not surprisingly, it is difficult to push concrete through mesh like this with hand trowel. So, we're finding areas like this all over the place where there are air spaces between the old gunnite and the new cement patches.

This is a good example of the "patch" they made. You can clearly see how shallow this mesh is under the concrete or mortar they used. And, of course, you can see rust all over the place coming through to the surface.

My pool deck and concrete guy, Ritch Brownlee, partially demoed the steps, removing the rusted rebar and nails that were used by Diamond Quality Pools as rebar ties, built actual forms, and poured these steps. They are concentric circles. They are all the same height, and don't look like...

"Diarrhea" steps made by Diamond Quality Pools, Shoreline Washington. I call them this because it looks like you took a trowel to a pile of elephant Darn and tried to make it look like steps. It describes fairly well how they made these too.
