Florida Block-Pool Build

I was hoping to see you getting back to this huge endeavor! Good luck and make sure there are some adults drinks in the fridge for when you get done each day!
Oh, I couldn't abandon this project if I wanted to! The hole is too close to my foundation 😆...
Anyways, got a good amount done the last two days. It might not seem like much on video but it's quite a lot of earth moving to get the trench back into shape.
I have to work today, but that's fine with me. I'm so sore all over. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain, but I'll still be in the hole working when/if possible.

I love watching your progress videos. Man are you tenacious! Do your neighbors think you’re insane? 😂
It’s way beyond a homeowner DIY project.
90% of my neighbors can’t even figure out how to put air in their car tires let alone build their own pool from scratch.

Thanks! This type of feedback is so motivating and I really appreciate it!
I'm glad you like the videos, I'll keep doing the little updates with them.
Well done!! BIG progress!!! Now do something for me! Go buy some rebar caps. Sure do NOT want you or anyone to fall on that rebar!
Well, there's no rebar in it yet! But rest assured, I'll get the caps. Definitely not leaving something like that to chance.

Alright well, we had several days in a row with torrential rainfall and I'm flooded again. However, the forecast over the next week is upper 90s and dry so I think the water level can drop back down. In the pic you can see where it is now. Also, notice I put up more tarps on the excavation wall by the house to try to stop the erosion. It seems to be helping.
You might also notice that entire side of the trench I managed to get dug back out before the rain hit. I'll put a "before" pic in there for comparison.

Update time!
Got the trench cleaned back out.
HOWEVER, rather than move forward with footing form work, I decided to do a little side quest as an insurance policy against getting washed out again.
I'll put up some bracing to hold the boards up, don't worry.
Now I finally feel like I can move on to FORM WORK! WOOO!!!!!

Thanks! I gotta work tomorrow, but I'll post an update on Sunday evening hopefully showing off some sweet form work!

I need to order rebar... but I'm torn between #4 and #5. 5 is much more expensive, and certainly mega overkill. I should just order #4 but I can't seem to pull the trigger on it.
This footing isnt holding up a two story house for crying out loud, it's holding up a 4 foot tall wall!!
Someone talk me into #4....

I would suggest 2 rows of #4. The footing is gonna' crack regardless.......the rebar is in there to hold it in position so the cracks don't grow or allow the footing to move.

#3 is likely adequate. Can you get a local concrete man to advise you?

Hey duraleigh! Glad to see you pop in again!
Yeah I'll ask some professionals in my area. Most likely will get a few quotes for pumped concrete and I'll see what they all say.

Two rows was the plan, as well as cross-peices of rebar every so often to tie it together width-wise as well. Then the verticals, of course. Man, I need to sit down and try to calculate how much I need to order. Taking in to account required overlap on rebar sections also... hmm
