Featured DIY Solar Cover Roller

I put the pipe down the center line, long side vs the short side as you both have shown. This minimizes the amount of cover you need to roll up.

Either way will work, it is just a matter of preference.

It's not critical that you have the pipe centered.
Awesome, thanks. So for a section like your steps, does that just get folder over before rolling?

Also, what are we using to cover the... covers... while they're removed? I've seen it suggested that rolled up covers have to be protected from the sun to prevent overheating? I'm thinking some cheap drop cloths (and maybe some rocks to keep them from blowing away) should work, but just wondering if there's anything easier or more visually appealing.

Foam core pipe floats on its own. No need to cap the pipes. Also, that does not prevent the pipe from filling with water because the cover attachment penetrates the cover and pipe so will leak water into the pipe anyway and you want the ends open so water can flow out when removed.

Yeah the steps section sorta just gets bunched up as I roll it. But it's a small enough section it doesn't matter.

I don't cover them when removed, mainly because I didn't find a solution that I liked. And that may have contributed to my covers wearing out faster than they otherwise would have.
