Aiper Scuba S1 Review

Here is why the Pro leaks debris back into the pool. You might need to zoom.

I want to link this new thread regarding the Aiper Seagull Pro robot that caused a fire.
This is has been my major concern about charging the Aiper robot - regardless of model. I normally set a 3 hr timer when I am charging it so I unplug it and do not let it overcharge.
Thanks for sharing. Definitely a concern. For me, the big appeal of the Aiper is the ease of use. That kind of goes out the window if you have to go outside 3+ times a day to run it.

What QR method? I downloaded the Aiper app from the AppStore then you find the S1 under support, look at the bottom for how to update robot, then follow along. I updated my software about a month ago following the method outlined above. Decided to get the
most recent update but it doesn’t work. Got into the Aiper Wi-Fi, clicked on the S-1 after pairing the device and get an error message that’s device can’t be located. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Since I’m OK with how it’s working in my pool, I guess I won’t bother upgrading at this time. .

Just bought one of these on Prime Day. Hoping it will do a good job on my somewhat larger pool...concerned about that, and the slope issue thing...getting stuck in the deep end. I guess we will see how it does...so should I update to the latest firmware right away? New firmware seems to make this robot run better, helps deal with the "getting stuck in the deep end" issue?
Hello Mike
Out of curiosity, I would try with the firmware version that the unit came with first (note the version number). Observe and take notes of any problems then upgrade to newest firmware and compare. BTW, what model did you get and for how much?

What’s the latest firmware for these? Mine has .09 but I thought I saw someone had updated to .1 not sure if that was for a a S1 pro though. Mine says it’s up to date. It works great so it’s not a big deal, just curious.

Folks,

I bought the S1 Aiper a couple weeks ago after my new plaster had cured. I have to admit I really wanted to go with a corded model but wife nixed this after she saw @Katodude 's cordless in his pool. I found it on Amazon for $529. We've put it to a real good test on our new pool since we have an infinity edge that has a basin that's used to catch and recycle water throughout the day. We have had a lot of dust in the bottom every day that this bot removes easily. This really surprised me. We've also found it's limit. We're just finishing up the enclosure installation and had some major storms come through that put about 3" of dirt into the basin (small retaining walls to prevent this had to wait for enclosure structure). When the pool pump kicked on we dumped most of this dirt into the pool. Prior to the rain the S1 had our bottom spotless in one run. After that I ran it in floor mode nightly. It does a superb job. But my "dirt dump" completely over whelmed it. To be fair, I think this would have overwhelmed any cleaner. Hoping to manually vacuum this out tonight with my dive gear. I was planing to do this to get any metal filings and screws out of the pool that dropped during installation anyway.

I have to admit that Robin is right. And I like Andy's logic about $150/year cost even if it only lasts 3 years. Fishing the bot out is super easy with the hook they provide and I'll set up an outdoor table with the charge cord. Based on demonstrated cleaning capability so far I think we'll be able to go to eco mode where it cleans the floor every other day 3 times before it needs charging. I'll update as we gain more experience.

Chris

Purchased the Aiper S1 regular and Pro to test out. The regular actually seems to have stronger suction but BOTH have left black scuff marks in different spots. Initially I thought it was something I did wrong then I noticed them appearing AFTER running them. Yesterday I ran the Pro in full mode and when I checked today there were several black spots that scrubbing doesn't seem to be eliminating. I'm sure more elbow grease will get them off. Never had this issue with my Wave 80. I did see some other threads where people were getting scuffs on their fiberglass pools and at least one saying they had plaster (different model Aiper though)

I’ve been running my S1 for 2 months now. About 5 days a week. I’m impressed with how much it picks up.
Last night though, I dropped it in before going to bed and when I came out this morning it was just sitting on the floor in the middle of the pool. They always stop at the edge so you can hook them out. When I got it out it was still flashing red as if it were still running but at the end of its charge. Very odd for 10 hours after starting, when it’s done the light is always off and it’s completely drained.
I’m recharging now and I’ll run again and see if it runs the full 3 hours.
If anyone has has this happen let me know

Do the debris baskets on both work the same? Debris gets sick part way into the basket on my pro. Wondering if that will be an issue with the regular one.

I just accidentally ran this guy an entire cycle without the rubber plug in place over the charging port. Nothing bad seemed to happen. I just dried it really well before charging it again.
